so i thought i'd post this as i'm definitely going:

i went last year and it was super fun. much more casual race then something like Mt. Creek. you don't need a full-blown 5-6" enduro bike or anything. there were people there last year on full rigid single speeds who finished without trouble. pretty cool area surrounded by german resorts with lots of other great trails to ride and an awesome atmosphere and people. only 100 spots total so get 'em while it's hot!

I made the trip up for this one and had a good time despite the greasy trail conditions. Too much pedaling for an enduro in my opinion but I'll probably be back next year!

Pedaling will be involved with Steel City as well...

That's actually one of the cool things about Enduros, especially if part of a series. The terrain dictates the riding. An enduro should test the overall capabilities of a rider. Some course like Mt Creek & Burke are more down where others will favor someone with a better engine.

probably going to pre ride steel city Sat morning 6/20 if anyone is interested i could give them a lift

Steel City has too much pedaling in the stages as well. Stage 3 shouldn't be in there as a timed stage either.

That's not the general idea of an enduro. A typical enduro will test your skills at high speed on descending trails then your endurance/fitness on the transfers. There's more on that on my website: www.eastcoastenduro.com

I'm just happy to see that they have these events in as many places. Much better than not having them. Admittedly I've been burned by not pre-riding and getting surprised when there is more pedaling than expected. But I like the idea of showcasing the entire arsenal of a rider.

At the end of the day I pedal on DH sections anyway. The best riders in an Enduro are well capable of crushing most XC races. And I typically don't find myself testing my fitness on transfers; if anything I'm going for full recovery. This opinion is of course that, my opinion.

Nice website!
