No. First of all, I did not realize it was the battery s/n.

Potentially, you could register the frame s/n as yours and then report it stolen. Obviously only the real owner could prove they purchased the frame with a receipt, still they would have to bust their balls because some idiot tried to take advantage of their good nature...

Even though they may not cause any real damage, idiots can still find a way to ruin your day just preventing them to do real damage.

I maybe a tad paranoid though...

I'm not a risk manager but I've taken enough risk management courses to leave an impression. I've been accused of "risk management" in other aspects of life just on this forum alone.
