Senate bill proposes selling off public lands

You can also post on the official public IG sites for the senators in the states of UT, PA and CO and let them know your thoughts.

Submitted the other day. Here is the canned reply that makes ZERO mention of the issue. Government at it's best!

Thank you for reaching out to me to express your concerns regarding President Trump’s budget bill, H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. There’s no question that our budget and tax code are a statement of our values, and for too long, ultra wealthy Americans and big corporations have been prioritized over America’s working families. President Trump has chosen to do so once again, and I fundamentally believe that is wrong. I would like to share some thoughts with you on the ways in which this bill will fundamentally distribute wealth from the middle class to the those at the top and, in doing so, harm working families.

As you know, after middle of the night hearings and votes, congressional Republicans jammed their budget bill through the House of Representatives by one vote in the early morning hours of May 22, 2025. The bill overhauls our nation’s tax code and budget and, if signed into law, will make everyday life more expensive for working families by raising healthcare premiums and co-pays, eliminating Pell grants, cutting food assistance, and slashing Medicaid. These are successful and vital programs that help keep millions of Americans healthy, educated, and out of poverty.

More specifically, should the bill become law, 14 million Americans will lose their healthcare, $700 million will be cut from Medicaid, a program that seniors and people with disabilities rely on, and 4 million students will lose access to Pell Grants that allow them to pursue higher education, among other dangerous ramifications. Even so, Republicans continue to sell this bill as though it is fiscally responsible and cuts waste, fraud, and abuse. It clearly does nothing of the sort and will actually add trillions of dollars to the national debt by providing tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and large corporations at the expense of hard-working Americans. With this in mind, please know I will do all I can to oppose this piece of legislation.

Thank you again for contacting me. It is a privilege and an honor to serve the people of New Jersey, and to act as your voice in Washington, D.C. I hope that you will continue to keep in touch on issues of concern. If I can ever be of assistance to you or your family, please do not hesitate to contact me.

When I posted on Mike Lee's IG there were literally THOUSANDS of comments. However, it irks me that it was removed "on a technicality" - seems like a different reason than people finding their conscience.

"Lee, in a post on the social platform X, said he would revamp the plan. The new legislation will still sell off land owned by the Bureau of Land Management — but not that owned by the Forest Service.

He also said he would “SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE” the amount of land in the bill, limiting it only to lands within 5 miles of a population center."

this response actually mentions public land so slightly impressed about that:

I got this same BS auto reply. Glad to read posts above that this appears to not be as much an issue as originally anticipated. I think.
