SLX Piston will not retract- running out of ideas

I have 1 stubborn piston that will not retract and it is pretty far out- the pad I removed was THIN so I think it has been this way for awhile.

Tire lever method not working.

Flossed the piston with alcohol soaked string

mineral oil wiped on the piston

Removed bleed screw from the lever attached the cup and had oil in it and tried to retract piston- no luck

Removed cup with oil Thinking if the system was over bled it would need to purge oil- no luck

put OLD pads back in and used a screw driver to try and pop it back in- nope

I assume the seal might have gunk behind it but not sure how to break the caliper down...

Any suggestions? Thanks all!

Hmm that is an idea... I wonder if 4 piston is too cramped for that but I could see it providing consistent leverage. Thanks!

How old is it? If you're attempts at repair fail, hard goods are covered by a 2 year warranty from Shimano.

Mount the caliper, then stick a cone wrench handle (the good ones, vinyl dipped) through the body over the stuck piston. Pull the end towards you while using your thumbs to push on the body of the caliper. Before doing so, you might find it convenient to attempt to get the piston moving first--arrest the other three pistons by using a bleed block that is hollowed out over the stuck one (look up "prepared Shimano bleed block). Any movement will do it, no need to advance it.

Be careful with the ceramic (white colored) pistons. If you cock it by accident, it will probably crack.

not sure about the shimano calipers, but i have used it to help exercise lazy pistons on 4pot guides . . .

SUCCESS!!!!! Not sure exactly what worked or if it was a combination of everything. I did another round of “flossing@ with the caliper out more than last night and I did get a ton of gunk out. Thanks all!
