Tell me where you rode today...

Yeah... I was on the fence about riding yesterday, but after texting with one of the locals, we both chickened out. With today being even hotter, I doubt we'll try today either. I have tomorrow off, so I may try to get out early if only for a road ride. Back when I did the "31 Days of July" challenge, I would often get my hour in in the pre-dawn hours (starting at around 4AM) to beat the heat.

I’m fond of lighter bikes too. How much does your epic weigh?

I have a medium epic evo 7 at 25 lbs w pedals but I’m sure your wc is even lighter.
had to check after your question.

Wow 4am. And I thought I was an early bird. 😳

I’ll be riding Friday right after dawn. Will still be in the 80s then.

It was back when I was commuting into the office, so I'd get the hour in, get home, shower and then drive into the office to be there by 6:30.

They were some nice rides.... nobody on the roads... riding into sunrises. Sometimes in the rain... since when it's that hot outside, the difference between being soaked with sweat and soaked from rain isn't that much. But had to get that hour in.

I have some ideas about how we could do that challenge again, but it requires someone with better organizational skills than me to make it work.

Just realized you may have no idea what I'm talking about. Here is a link to the last time we did this back in 2024:

Nice. Here’s where my sz M is with flat pedals and no tools or air pump. It’s tempting to chase more grams and get under 25 lbs. Replacing the ti saddle with carbon or swapping cassettes to XX or Gabaruk could do it.

Every time I think about chasing even more grams, I stop and think about how much better and cheaper it would be for me to just limit scotch and ice cream.

Set out early and it was still hot. Felt like 90 by 9am.

Sipping some water and standing still seemed to help though. 👍

Break over, I hit up the flow trails….

And I found this doe again. I almost always see her at this part of the park and she tends to sniff my scent and tolerate my presence.

See ya later Miss Jane Doe. ✌️
