After being away from the message boards and my bike hunt for a few months... I finally got my bike! Kind of an impulse buy, but I got the Trek Skye at High Gear Cyclery in Millburn on my way home from work. I took it for a short ride on the Henry Hudson (still need to learn how to really ride the bike and get used to the uncomfortable seat! Any tips?) I'm excited to head out to Allaire soon 🙂
 
Congrats! Make sure the saddle is level (not tilted up or down) and you wear cycling shorts (without undies). After some time in the saddle, you'll get a little more comfortable on it.

every tuesday Allaire has beginner rides at 6pm. they are a lot of fun i hear!
 
welcome to site Nina, my ass was sore for a week after riding about 1/4 of a mile the first time, then i discovered chamois on bike shorts, then a couple months later i discovered you are NOT!!!! supposed to wear them over your regular underwear, so expect the first ride to be the worst, but investing in a pair of comfy bike shorts goes a long way... enjoy

P.s. don't take the seat off for rides like some guys on this site!
