The Not BIYF January Ride Thread

The past couple years i have opt’ed to drive to the trails after a number of years of doing the opposite. This morning I rode to a
Local spot, and i feel like it makes it better.
I've driven out to trails only about 2-3x since the Covid pandemic. Straight out the front door is my preferred way to ride now.

I also haven't cut my hair since the pandemic either, but that's a different story.

Lunchtime WFH gravel ride with one of my local riding buddies. Needed to get outdoors badly after so much Zwift.

A little more windy than I thought it would be but I was dressed warm enough for a Columbia trail ride. Funny how every direction we went felt like a headwind.

During our ride we saw some of the latest adaptations of Trail sports including:

- ride a MTB with a sports mouth guard in
- walk along the middle of the trail with your head down while reading a physical book and wearing headphones.

I wonder how long it might be before these sport events make their way into the Winter Olympics. 🤪🤦🏻‍♂️

stopped for a nice winter scenic pic along the river. Hoping the weekend allows for some more outdoor rides.

Tow
Woke up later than normal and there was 1/2” of snow. I was going to ride my zig zag but it had a flat last night and while it was holding air, i didnt feel like dealing with it, so i rode the mtb. Roads were wet with death salt so tip toe’d down to the canal in somekind of “the salt is lava” route.
The tow path on mtb is my least favorite surface, well, next to road on mtb. Passed a group of 50-60 runners in Washington Crossing on an otherwise uneventful ride.

Found another bike circle on the lake

With the snow up here even tho it was only an inch or less I won’t have time later to ride without a hassle. So decided to get up early and do some more endurance riding indoors.

I also changed my screen setup a bit and did some redneck engineering (yep used some
Duct tape) to tilt the TV screen for a better viewing angle. Made watching 2+ hours much better and even the sound projected out a bit better since the TV speakers are on the bottom. Checking FBMP for maybe a low cost mini sound bar or decent BT speaker next.

It’s not dumb if it works!

it is disappointing that ATV doesn't support two screens. The PIP doesn't work the way you'd want it to with zwift.

Yeah but that’s ok I prefer the separate screens so I don’t risk losing a ride due to some technical issue or user error because I changed the wrong channel. I’d need a bigger screen TV to do PIP anyway which defeats the purpose of my setup right now since I have limited space (for now). Snagging the 20” Roku TV and it fits perfect in that spot has been great tho.

Been debating getting one of those rolling TV carts with a Shelf but I think the footprint would be too big compared to the red neck storage container monitor stand 🤪

That’s quite an achievement after all the stuff you had going on. 👍🏻💪🏻

Thanks. My right shoulder is pretty much ruined but for the most part everything works quite well with biking. ( hoping some ulnar nerve damage doesn’t block me from doing longer rides 🤞🤞 )

Last night about 1 am my left hamstring cramped so bad that I actually cried out..
That has happened since the Dickerson Mine endurance race on lap 4.
I knew it was going to happen. Only drank a half bottle the whole effort.
Live and learn
