Transition Bikes?

As expected it has aggressive geometry that going downhill it is great, until it isn't.
That seems to be an apt description for most "down country" XC bikes. At least that is how I look at my Spot Ryve 115. It's also one of the reasons I run fairly light XC tires on the bike - they seem to keep me from pushing the bike too close to its limits. It can handle some really technical terrain, but I need to keep the speed under control as the intersection between the bike's limits and my own abilities don't always align - which has gotten me into trouble a few times.
