Traveling with cats

Anyone take their cats on a multi -day drive to their new home? I bought this for the back seat. Also comes with a foldable litter box and got spillproof water and food bowls. Most importantly, the vet got us calming drugs - gabapentin drops. She said to start the night before. Our plan is about an 8 hr drive the first day, 10-11 hrs second day. Staying at a pet friendly Hampton Inn in NC. These are 13 yr old cats who hate car rides. Any other tips?

Yes. But Franklin's leash trained so he just chills in the backseat when he's not criticizing my driving.

I don't think gabapentin works. At least not for vet visits.

As for tips: You might just want to invest in earplugs for all the cat whining you're about to experience.

We haven't tried the gaba yet. Vet said to try a week before to guage dose. Can increase quite a bit.
