Trek fuel ex8

well I've been trying to figure out which bike to purchase i think I'm going to get the 09trek fuel ex8, is this a good choice :hmmm:

I have a 2008 and I love the bike, when I bought it the fork came with 140mm of travel which makes low speed steering a little floppy the 09's come with 130 which might be better for that, but it makes it super duper plush and fun on the rocky downhills. It's pretty light for a 5" F/R travel bike at around 27-28 pounds, I have the dookie green one:

I would warn you though, I wouldn't want this as my only bike since climbing gets a little annoying even with pro-pedal on, and when it's open you'll bounce a bit more unless you take the time to dial it in the way you want (that's with the RP2 in the back). I've taken this bike to RV and while going up is a little more painful, going down is as smooth as butter. Even though officially this bike died to the 29er crowd here I won't be selling mine in the foreseeable future 😛

great my choices where the intense spyder 29er or the trek fuel ex 8 i used to do a ton of d/h with my yeti dh8 which is still in the basement and my xc was on a giant ac1 so this has been a hard choice for me

Walter has a nice F29 for sale for a great deal in the 'for sale' section. Might want to jump in on that if it's not too late.

2 words.....Buy it!
A great all around ride! Sadly my 2008 ex9 was recently stolen and last weekend I finally got back out on my old Specialized epic comp. I was hoping for an uplifting experience but twas not to be...the ex9 spoiled me.

dam son, they stole your bike! that sucks, sorry to hear that,i hope that you had it reg with the pd and the bike shops and i would post info like ser so people are aware if they come across the bike for sale, i hate f&*&**K thief's and lier's, people work to dam hard for what they have to have some ass come and steal it..

i was looking at the ex 8 compared to the ex9 but the price is i little steep for what it has in price comparison in upgrade parts

Just go with the ex8.

When I bought the 9 I was thinking that the ABP and Full Floater were simply marketing ploys. But after 1 ride I was convinced "it works". That bike was so much better then my epic is every single area. Granted it was a big step up from a 05 EPIC Comp to an ex9 but 3 other guys that I ride with all bought either the ex9 or the 9.5 carbon and we were all equally impressed. Does that sounds like a ringing endorsement?

Oh btw....the scum also got away with my Litespeed road bike and my digital camera....like I give a rats a#% about a camera!

Rock On!

i been looking at the reviews for some time on a bunch of bikes, it just seems that every time i make my mind up on something i get pushed back to the trek, i hear great things about this bike, so i ordered it it will be great to get back in the saddle again...
