What have you done to your bike today?

That what everyone says when they get there

Yeah, my original plan was a bit too aggressive and relied on an outside source that was unreliable, which I knew going in, but I was optimistic. My second plan was using the company that I work for, which is also completely unreliable, which I knew going in, but thought I could get a pass after winning Bike Month. Plan C was to go through the company I ride for, who are very reliable and very willing to send me whatever I need, it’s just a card I don’t like cashing in because they’ve been so good to me I don’t want to take advantage. Plan A was over 3 months to get a no, Plan C took 24 hours to get a tracking number 🤷

Aspero 5?

View attachment 282809Pedals and Bottle cages on. Now to take for a ride and see if I need to change seat and bars.
Check the serial # on the cranks:

Since everyone is itching for shorter cranks these days, I have been requesting them when submitting a claim. They usually send whatever size you ask for.

I went in a very slightly different direction to a very slightly different option that takes a very slightly bigger tire and uses a regular bar/stem and looks a lot like a bike one of us already has.
😍 Looking forward to seeing it. Lmk if you try a 50mm...

Cool. I’m completely unfamiliar with this material. I’m guessing it must have some properties that make it advantageous? I’ve only ridden carbon and al.
Much like the flat pedal evangelists, devotees of Ti tend to have an irrational obsession with the material. (Full disclosure, I have 3 Ti bikes☺️)

The long and short of it is, Ti rides sorta like steel but doesn’t rust. It has the unique property of being able to retain its shape even under flex conditions that would cause steel to deform. Downside? It’s like 3x the cost of Steel partially due to raw material costs but mostly due to being a PIA to weld.

My Hardtail MTB is Ti and at 69 years old a Ti road bike rides smoother than carbon and Al but not as fast. I am done with fast now. Down in SJ all you need is a hardtail MTB just flat and flowy trails.

If that’s what the frame builder desires. My old steel Yo Eddy and the ti Yo Eddy could still rattle your teeth out just not as quickly as the Kleins and and Cannondales of the time.
