What have you done to your bike today?

Now that my road bike is approaching 10 years old seems like it’s the year for sequence of upgrades just keep coming up.

Got pretty lucky last week and got these ZIPP404s from a fellow club member for free! They are a little older and had decent use but needed some love especially a good cleaning. Spent about an hour cleaning and scrubbing the residue and grime off them with just plain dish soap and a clean chamois cloth based on what I read online. and also sanitizing the brake track with IPalcohol.

Took them out for a first 30 mile shakedown ride today mostly flat roads but I could feel
A Yuge difference even coming up the little falls flats and rollers. I will have to pay attention to the handling when it’s breezy tho.

Adding di2 and now carbon wheels is the way I wished i bought the bike originally but it’s like riding a different (better) bike

Geared HT needed a new rear tire. The old Ignitor with 2 sidewall plugs was leaking air again. Slapped on a Rekon 2.25. While going through a parts bin found my '90s Ringle skewers. Rear skewer got put on that bike because Lefty.

While I was swapping tires, found the Dissector 2.4s that came off my Pivot T429. The Ardent/Ignitor combo on the GT Peace 9r were 10+ years old. Front Ringle skewer getting used too, rear hub is bolt on. Also put on a ding-a-ling.

ever since I got my gravel bike (disc brakes of course), if there's any chance of rain or wet roads I dont ride this bike anyway so it's not an issue. I have a 2nd set of wheels with road tires for the gravel bike so thats my go to for damp conditions and winter road riding.

funny I have been debating to sell my Thule T2 XT Pro get a single rack myself since most of the time I put the bike in the car, but still want the option of being able to use a rack if the bike is just too dirty, or in the rare occasion I have someone else with me i can still transport 2 bikes. would also take up much less room in the garage.

My Rockymount rack has been very good but being a consistent 2 bike rack it’s very bulky and heavy (…needs a hitch drop adapter, an additional 20 pounds, due to the tailgate in my pickup).

I love the ability to attach and detach at any given time a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tray. Expensive…absolutely! But to me it’s worth the flexibility because most times I ride alone and I want to leave my rack attached for most of the season.

And no hitch adapter needed now!
 
Wanted to play around with the Maniak to make this snappy bike even snappier… 😎

Dropped 10mm of travel by swapping out the 130mm Pike for a 120mm 34 I had sitting around. But first, I had to swap the 140 air spring on the 34 for a 120. While I was at it I tossed the factory seals for a set of SKF Duel compound seals. Slapped on some fun decals (primarily color isn’t quite what I thought it would be.. but it’s kinda ok). I also swapped the front Trinotal for a Dubnital (both trail grip). The Trinotal has a great tread pattern on paper… but in reality, it’s 5mm too narrow to be the winner it could have been. The Dubnital just seems to punch way above its weight.

Front brake wasn’t feeling snappy last ride so I got new pads (front and back) and Bled everything since I had the wheels off anyway. It was at this moment that I remembered the front wheel currently has torque caps.😵‍💫🙄😳. Guess I’m not going on a shakedown ride today. 🤬

Thanks everyone for well wishes.
Status is taking steroids to reduce the swelling. I still can't lift my left arm, maybe a little more then yesterday. Neck is barely sore so coming up better then expected for the violent impact. As they say in football it's a stinger. Hoping for a quick recovery.

I know. Just flashbacks to the early days of dealing with Crankbrothers pedals. I think I warrantied more than we sold. My favorite was an early pair of eggbeaters that cracked on the first ride down the D&R towpath on a customer's hybrid. No injury, but he was not happy about the long walk back to his car.
