Chimney Rock Conditions

10/14 Did a hike on red for tomorrows TM prep and its mostly fine. Some standing water here and there but nothing to worry about aside from some slippery roots and rocks. Enjoy!
Can second this. Just finished up riding on most of blue and red. Little bit more standing water than the 5-day post-hurricane rain, all mostly avoidable still. But yeah, the slick spots. This weekend should be ideal.

Conditions were 6 out of 10 at dawn. Probably will get better as the day wears on but it was moist and soft on a good portion of the trails. Back and lower blue is getting swampy again. Orange was pretty wet climbing up from Gilbride. Red was ok but the connector trail is probably still drying out. White was ok, wet in the usual low spots. Yellow was in best shape.

Overall, still rideable. Watch out for wet rocks and leaf litter.

Colors close to peaking so lots of hikers out and about. Newmans lot was full when I wrapped up at 930ish.

Also bumped into the TM crew on red on my way out. Thanks, guys!

Hmm - Orbea eBike or the dude with blue spokes? Or someone else?

Funny you had it 6/10. We rode it yesterday late afternoon and I would have said 8/10 on white, yellow, orange, and red.

I was on the black epic, dayglo helmet and passed the first three or four of the TM crew. Thought you guys were a huge gang of fisherman at first until I saw the rods were not rods but shovels and such. LOL

Yeah I dinged the trail for the moist conditions. Guess I prefer CR drier.

Rode for first time since Friday (life doing life things) and digging (pun intended) some of the re-routing of the trail on red. Caught me by surprise as I was going downhill into that section, not mention all the leaves, but looking forward to hitting it again knowing it's coming haha.

Was there this afternoon. Orange and yellow were great considering the showers on Monday. Two days of sun and today's windy conditions did the trick.

Tons of leaves though, even more than what we saw earlier this weekend. At times it could be hard to visibly see the trail. Come and get it.

You ran into us the day we were out there. Did you not ride what we were working on that day? In response to:
It was 920ish that Saturday when I rode past. Thinking work had not started yet. Looked like you were headed to the back part of red by the trail features?

Ah now I see. Yup that is a section of red I have been bypassing this week. Will check it out on my next ride!
I rode red last week before the reroute with @Kirt and @Norm and was shown where the reroute would be. We even stopped for a minute. On the group ride Saturday, I was looking for it, and didn't even realize I was on it until i could see the fresh dirt. The old trail disappeared like a fart in the wind.

Did red, white and blue this evening. At risk of stating the obvious, it is about as good as it will ever get right now. Even lower blue is mud free. Much like other CNJ parks, conditions are leafy with the right level of moisture in the dirt to be dry yet tacky. In other words, perfect.

New section on red is bedding in nicely.
