This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

Lack of staff if you force the issue. It's a real issue.

A few of the anti-vaxxers at my company are also some of the best employees so it's a tough spot to be in.

Seems like a fair trade. I wouldn't really want to have a bunch of employees working in medicine who don't believe in medicine.

While I want to agree with you, I can't.

Their stupidity in one area is mutually exclusive to doing their job properly. The person checking everyone in could be an anti-vaxxer spewing weird flat-earth conspiracies at night on Facebook, but that doesn't mean they can't do their job right during the day.

It's like EMT workers. They all look like the most unhealthiest people on Earth and I wouldn't take nutritional advise from them. But as long as they can take care of me when they're called to do so, I'll take it.

I think working in a Dr's office and interacting with people on a daily basis, many of whom likely have health complications that increases their risk with COVID, and not taking a basic precaution to avoid killing them should be disqualifying. So I'd argue that their stupidity in this area directly relates to their ability to do their job. In the example that started this, it wasn't just related to administrative personnel, we're talking about the actual medical staff that will have hands on patients, although I think that both populations should be required to be vaccinated.

They can just wear surgical masks to prevent the spread? 🤷‍♂️

More proof that covid isn't going away. Highest vaccinated country on earth is seeing second largest peak of infections since the pandemic started. Almost everyone is vaccinated

1. i agree. and there will be more mutations - so a more universal vaccine on the way?
2. since it doesn't kill deer, it should stay there, and stable. no need to mutate
3. at this point, if they are testing everyone, it is hospitalizations and deaths that are the critical measure ???

Probably go with a country with a population larger than New Brunswick.
Perhaps Israel?

They started boosters in july

when looking at the graph, i see a narrower base and a bit higher peak for their latest wave (now subsided)
This is interesting, not sure if there are cultural factors in august that would contribute. Holidays are in early September.
Perhaps a popular travel month for people visiting?

We are doing some research to vax our kids or not. 0.14% of Somerset County has the VID.

What country is that??? Masks optional there?

I was looking at countries with much higher vaccination rates than the US. Israel is almost the same as US now - we pretty much caught up. Other countries are much higher.

Went with Pfizer for the booster. Saw somewhere that mixing it up can provide better coverage. So I gave it a shot. Ha.

Did you have the next day hangover with the Moderna? And with the booster?

It’s only a matter of time till they open the booster up for everyone. Some states and cities already did. I’m surprised nj hasn’t yet.

Not how that works. Mutations eventually come from the virus reproducing and every now and then doing it wrong and having a mutation that sticks and replicates.

There's no "stable" as eventually not every reproduction is perfect.

i don't disagree, but there is no forced selection out of the mutation.

if there is one version survives antibiotics or kills its host, then there is pressure to change for its own survival.

so it mutates, and the mutation survives vs the original. otherwise the original is the dominate strain.

Deer are irrelevant, transmission from deer to humans is practically nil. It is a moot point when covid will be circulating among 7+ billion humans like other influenza and cold viruses.
