What are you watching now?

Rewatching Season 3 of Dark
Only while i'm on the trainer.
It doesn't make the time go by any faster, but Martha rides a bike.

That was a great show... for a while. The last season confused the hell out of me and I thought the end was kind of weak.

BTW that is a huge awesome screen. I'm working with an 11 year-old Macbook Air propped up on a stool and an old bucket of spackle for trainer duty.

it decided to stb at 4 years old - lost a bunch of LEDs, and has a few other "issues" - wasn't worth fixing.
mix that with 4K coming out, and 3D fading - so into the dungeon.

Have to rewatch season 3 cause figuring out who is where and when, and who knows what.
I didn't watch the last couple of episodes the first time around cause i was so lost.
The recaps and explanations on youtube are just as entertaining!

Yeah. If I were to recommend this to a friend I would say watch the first 2 and skip the 3rd. Or skip it all entirely. IMO the 3rd is so bad it detracts a bit from the first 2. I am sure David Lynch watched that last season and was like, "Um...WTF just happened?"

Finished Dopesick
- in recent news, a judge threw out the agreement that the Sackler family could be shielded by the company's bankruptcy.
- It was worth the watch.

Finished Maid
- Climax and falling action were disappointing, but there was closure(?)

Finished Cobra Kai Season 4
- After the two other shows, had to watch something that didn't take any thought
- probably worth listening to Man of Recaps if you don't want to actually watch this

Started Ozark

We finished season 4 of Cobra Kai for some reason. They announced there will be a fifth season, and I'm sure we'll watch it, but I can't even imagine how much more ridiculous it can get.

Anybody watch Book of Boba Fett tonight? It's nice to see that Jon Favreau reads this thread and heard what you guys were saying.

Damn, you guys are really hating on some Boba, lol.

My 2 cents:

Favreau pitched the Mandalorian while he was mid filming in The Lion King. It was a shot in the dark idea and he was given a pretty modest budget for it. They got creative as hell with said budget and hired Fuse Technology (an LED company I admittedly work very close with) and Unreal Gaming to create “the volume,” an immersive LED paneled room that allowed them to shoot every scene in one space versus traveling crew and talent all over the world like JJ Abrams did. They literally created new technology that nobody had thought of to create a basic ass 8 or so episode tv show.

Fast forward - Mandalorian blows up. People fucking loved the child. They also now have this ground breaking new filming technique (which is still being perfected, hence some of the underwhelming sfx). They didn’t even know if there would be a second season.

Personally I think Boba is filler so they can do something epic with Mando without having to rush into it. Gives them more time to write the story and a chance to play with the new tech that they literally invented for this series.

Side note - I’ve been inside the “volume” and it is so realistic it’s very disorienting. A lot of the actors had to deal with motion sickness. Look it up on YouTube, the stuff Unreal is able to do with the LED setup is nuts.

TL;DR
I work in production so it’s not always about the writing for me.

Think about how you felt after ep1 of the mandalorian. So much to care about and wonder about.

Right on the mark! Supported by last night's Fett episode.

Amazing but totally bizarre. An entire episode they just went to the other series. And it wasn't even great but boba is so bad that it felt like a speilberg film. What a weird place it must be to drop your show's story and characters for a full episode and you get nothing but cheers.

Pennyworth - HBO Max

Backstory of Alfred - The butler from Batman.

Season 1 was in 2019,
3 seasons released.

Watch with the captions on, or you'll miss most of it.
Even then, you'll need your brit slang -> american slang dictionary.

Funny, poignant, action, Romance ❤️ 💔

Date night worthy.
-----------

Tenderbar - how hard it is to break away from the familiar.

Power of the Dog - Not sure I got it or not.......

Bobolorian. - when is Picard starting back up?

We watched Se7en over the weekend since my wife had never seen it. I have to say that it holds up well, though it would have been better if my wife didn't already know what was in the box.

Not a huge tennis fan but they match was pretty awesome.

I enjoy watching the big matches, but I haven't in a long time. I was flipping back and forth between that and football, which I also don't really watch at all. My wife walked by and pointed it out, and I was like, "oh yeah, someone posted on mtbnj about this already."

FWIW, I enjoyed the Mandalorian, and I'm currently enjoying Boba. Some shit you just need to take on face value and let take the ride. At least they're more or less sticking to the rules of the universe that they created, which is important in SciFi. There's some cheese in there, but Star Wars always had cheese.

The effects are pretty damn good for what it is, I watch it on a 77" OLED, and particularly enjoy that its streamed in 4k.

Clearly it seems that there will be another, hopefully bigger Mandalorian based on the developing plot-line. If Favreau is listening, I hope that the next one also involves the return of Giancarlo Esposito also.
