I am coming to the conclusion that it just isn’t worth it to educate these people as it is always a fight. Yesterday, I scoped on me of my local trails where I do a bunch of work. I worked on a new section that was cut in December and then scoped some parts of the park. It was pretty bad in areas and I skipped the area I knew it would be worse.I was trying to be purposefully reasonable and kind in my post and people still took it as an attack on themselves. I guess when you know you're doing something shitty it eats at you.
I'm sure they'll be at trail maintenance meetups in a couple months.
In the afternoon, two XC local hero (who are late 60’s) did not one, but two laps (meaning they saw the bad spots and rode it again). Honestly, are these people going to change, no, not even worth saying anything to them.
One thing about these new comers is that they are actively fighting back. It used to be that you just rode and didn’t put it in strava or made private. But now it is like some stupid badge of honor.
