Biggest loser

Day 8 of dry January and I’m down 3 lbs. Pulled out the night lights and did two really awesome solo rides. Did a few hikes with the pooch and hit the gym 4X this month.

All my friends know I’m doing dry January yet they hand me this last night for my 50th…

Not sure if they love me or secretly hate me. 😂

And we have lift-off!

2023 - Week 1
Starting Weight: 201.3
Current Weight: 194.2
Change: -7.1

I feel better already. Cut out all the crap I was eating between meals.
The hunger stuff is starting to subside, still there approaching dinner,
but not as bad. Eliminating 1k calories/day in alc probably helped...a lot.

Couple of TM sessions, a 5k, couple of trainer rides, couple of physically demanding work days..

oooh, pictures!

Really need to add stretching and light weights - maybe this week.
First goal is in sight!

Good work!

Mix in that rower 1 day a week for 20 min. Making a huge difference for me in terms of leg/core strength the last few months. Now that I have the form and technique figured out I can focus on things like intervals with stroke rate or intensity variations. (Phrasing??) 🤪

I’ve been pretty bad since thanksgiving. I had been on a pretty consistent routine before that and while not pushing it super hard the pounds were slowly but steadily coming off. I started a new job the week after thanksgiving, so that threw me off a good bit. It’s a university job so basically I worked a couple of weeks and then got two weeks off for Christmas break. My regiment was already broken and then they gave me two weeks off which consisted of numerous holiday gatherings. I’m practically back where I started weight wise but feeling even worse physically.

Friday officially started new diet and wrote out an exercise plan to fit new work schedule. Headed to the store soon to stick up for meal prep. Diet isn’t going to be anything crazy, just trying to get back to how I used to eat before I moved to the dirty south. It’s easy to lose control down here lol.

Once I get back on track I’ll start looking at some numbers….there’s no point right now. I can feel how off I am, I don’t need the scale to tell me lol.

Day 3 of a plateau, but also a win. I haven’t left 176.8 for the last 3 days but Monday is always higher so I’m counting that as a win. More clean foods and a mtb workout on tap for later. I ordered that bench so a little bit of weights will commence soon as well.

Week one - kind of rough.

Sold my truck and trailer this week and bought a car, so I lost a day there

Had an all day work event in the city with a big dinner after, I was pretty hungry so diet didn’t go well.

Still trying to gauge what kind of calories my body burns down here in sand land. I think I have it.

Split four chords of wood and probably gave myself too many calories.

Did not work on the weekend 😍

Bought another project vehicle.🕺

1.5 down for the first “real week” of this thing. Definitely starting to realize how used to going out to eat I was, can’t tell you how many beers I turned down over the last 11 days😿

Sleep is great.

Tonight I miss this fried chicken sandwhich.

Life is really challenging me to stay on a consistent training plan and I know my biggest enemy is stress eating and im back up a few lbs that I can see/feel it.

My ride plans got hosed the last 2 days, and today also but I took the 45 minute window i had and busted ass on the rower for 35 minutes of intervals instead. Felt good after to still get a decent workout in rather than do nothing. If nothing else I am improving the level of blister/callus on my hands.

Super clean eating today and no ride but I had some time to hit the firewood pile. It's a rest day from the bike but I still got a nice workout in. Some of the oak I'm splitting isn't the most cooperative, and I'm doing it all with an axe and wedge when needed. Maybe mixing it up will help the scale move tomorrow.

Ive been maintaining around 232/233. Minor ups and downs. Traveling over the next few weeks is going to challenge me. Going to focus once that stops as I have a mid March goal to hit by dropping 10 more.

Total from last year is Im still down a net of 20 from my high.

E2M program Round 7, Week 1, Day 6

New Year and back to the weekly updates.

Diet
Fully committed to the weight loss meal plan this week to get things under control. Low carb, no fruit and 16/8 I.F. Dry January is the plan, so no beer either. In FL last week for the holidays, we did ok on travel days to and from FL and also our 1st meals each day. It was when visiting the in-laws daily or out to a restaurant in the afternoon that we strayed. Beer, Key Lime pie, conch fritters, french fries, Key Lime pie (I like Key Lime pie), sushi, mahi tacos, grouper sandwich.

Exercise
Dawn patrol 30min walk/run/walk warm-up and circuits M/W/F. Back to the Time Crunched Cyclist plan T/Th on the spin bike. We're heading out for a morning walk today after our 1st meal. Riding tomorrow either local or Wharton with some race team dudes. Unfortunately, the inactivity last week in FL, even though I took clothes and shoes with every intention of being active, had me feeling sore this week. Probably going to back off a bit with the running to allow time for more extra credit workouts.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
1/7/23 current weight =178.4
Diff: weekly down 12.4, total lost = 57
Shocked, not shocked how much weight I gained over such a short period. Hadn't see the 190 value in awhile. The great thing about the E2M program and the way it's designed, you can fall off then jump back in and see quick results. Lesson learned.

While my wife didn't see an increase in her weight like me, she did go up. Following the plan this week, exercising more and also Dry Jan, she's back to her pre-trip weight and holding at her 41lb loss.
E2M program Round 7, Week 2, Day 6

Diet
Following the week's meal plan. However, I had some hungry's this week and snacked a little more than I should. Cashews are my kryptonite. So is peanut butter. And a little chocolate here and there won't hurt, right? Cheat meal this week was breakfast last Sunday at a local dinner. Had our minds set on an English Breakfast at a local restaurant, but they changed their hours and we were starving. A Western omelette quesadilla with a side of scrapple, it was awesome. Having family over for what we call Fishmas this afternoon. Mahi fish tacos is the main course with a bunch of other fish themed apps, sides and dessert.

Exercise
Circuits, extra credit weights, running and spin bike sessions all week for activities. A few lunch walks too. May squeeze in a walk around the 'hood today. Riding tomorrow in Wharton for a long ride on the SS with a few other dudes that like to explore the Pines.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
1/14/23 current weight =180.8
Diff: weekly up 2.4, total lost = 54.6
Following last week's big drop after the vacation indulgence, settled back into the routine. Didn't weigh myself everyday and not surprised of the small up-tick. The extra snacking probably had something to do with it. Not worried and will just stay the course for the next few weeks before I head to San Antonio for a work conference, then directly to CO for a snowboarding trip.

Wife still doing well and has increased her activity level as she still is trying to get here triathlon mojo back. No change this week.
