Tbf driving a rivian also makes you look like a twat
Hey, I think driving an electric pickup truck is dumb period, kind of defeats the purpose of what a pickup is supposed to do, but with $10B on Rivian's balance sheets, they've tapped into peoples inner twattage.

That's funny considering the fact that the majority of truck owners in the US rarely use the "truck" aspect of it and only own a truck so people can say "Look at me, I'm a truck owner!"
Your right, but its kind of the same reason most people buy loud sports cars too. If people bought trucks purely for the utility, then every truck would be a heavy duty long-bed. Instead we have people losing their shit over short-bed 20-year old 6cyl Toyotas and that Jeep Wrangler pickup which is good for what exactly?

Why? Serious question. I see a bunch at trail heads here. They seem like a nice practical pickup truck that while expensive, probably not crazy expensive compared to fully loaded pickups. They have a decent sized bed and lots of storage in the frunk and that neat storage tube behind the bed.
same reason (almost) everyone driving an electric pickup is, its a 'truck' that doesnt have the capability to do truck stuff, you put any significant load or trailer on these things and your range drops generally to under 100miles. Not usefull for any more than a trip to the local HD. (guy i work with has a lightning and he said his landscape trailer destroys the range going across town to dump is lawn debris)

I don't assume you're a drunk in a RAM pickup truck but most people on the road do FYI.

iv actually never heard that one before, must be a southern thing.

i mean a 5ft bed doesnt even fit a bike with the tailgate up unless you hang part of it over or put it i diagonally. That said if the galdiator (jeep pickup) was a fullsize with a 6.5ft or longer bed id be in line for one, thing looks pretty good and has a manual!

im actually watching the pickup market very closely so that i can replace mine with the last year the offer v8s since im still not sold on the gasoline powered small displace turbo engines (especially not for trucks) make it a diesel and that may change, but of course the EPA doesnt like that so the diesel options are pretty much gone unless you want a HD truck.

Rivians pickup and suv looks tired and old already. The Amazon trucks are better.
I mean I don't think the rivian trucks are "stunning"...but my god...LIGHT years better than that backward DeLorean rip off....and the interior
can you imagine spending $100,000 to sit in this anti-septic interior?

about the same amount of effort went into designing the old grumman panel truck interiors

$10 billion on their balance sheet? But they burn through $5 billion a year. I wouldn't buy their stock. Let's see if they even survive the next few years 😀

At least with a DeLorean you could make it better by dropping in a small block. There's no redeeming value to this other than shock value if you're a narcissist.

Gladiators with bigger beds do exist, they're called Raptors and TRX's!

How often do you tow with your truck that range would be an issue?

Has your coworker actually had a range issues or just says the range goes down? Does this come back to the electric truck thing is dumb because "What if I suddenly decide to drive across country after bringing my lawn debris to the dump" argument?

I guess if suddenly you drove 10 miles across town to dump lawn debris, 10 miles back, dropped the trailer and then suddenly have to go somewhere without charging you're limited to 40 miles away. With the theoretical 100 mile range.

Weren't you the one who posted this?

well the biggest draw for me was the 6 speed more than anything else.

a couple times a year, but i load the bed up alot more frequently, its not uncommon to be driving on the bump stops for me.

i dont interrogate people about this stuff, but the point is that you wont see contractors, commercial fleets or people actually using trucks as TRUCKS buying electric anytime soon. (granted these buyers are typically not buying the up-optioned trucks)

I think the point is that anymore than using it as a car (all most people use them for anyway, im aware) is not really viable. (i mean people do the same thing with jeeps for off roading and then never drive it any farther than the mall parking lot, so what people do shouldnt surprise me anymore)

I may have been(i have definitely seen it before), the joke about the dodge is that he ran out of gas, not sure how that works into drunk driving . . . .

The market and Rivian’s balance sheet would disagree with that. I think that Rivian understand that most folks who want a pickup truck want it to actually look like a pickup truck, and have most of the utility of one. The Teslas will be bought by fanboi’s and those that need everyone to “look at me!”
I guess it looks like a pickup except for that goofy front end it's like I'm waiting for it to break out into some Disney song....

Neighbor across the street just picked this up before thanksgiving but we can’t stand them so I somehow snuck a picture today while
Untangling the Xmas lights.

Not sure which model this is I’m not a Porsche expert but it does have some kind of extra loud exhaust since I can hear him ride the clutch every time he backs it into his garage.
