So due to work today and lack of sleep I was ready to just submit that I wasn’t getting up for a ride at 5am and then sit in all day work meetings. But as luck would have it I got home like 4:15pm and by 5pm I was out on the bike in not so humid conditions.

Decided due to traffic a quick easy out and back on Columbia trail would be good. I even made sure on the way out I wasn’t pedaling too hard since the legs are quite achy and I have a bigger ride planned for tmw morning.

I got to my turn around point and got flagged down by a volunteer EMT who was parked at the road crossing with his lights flashing. Asked me if I saw anyone that needed assistance male and female. They had already called 911 but no one could find them along the trail. At that point it dawned on me that the older couple I saw walking their bikes a mile back probably didn’t wave back because he wasn’t feeling good. I told the EMT I was heading back that way anyway and I’d call in the location but it was at least 1/2 mile or more when I saw them. Told him probably they were closer to the main trailhead near Schooleys mtn road and to drive back that way.

I picked up the pace a little It was probably about 5 or so minutes later I came across them in the trail and the local PD was already giving him oxygen. I pedaled to the trailhead 1/2 mile down and flagged the EMT ATV to head towards them. Saw the other EMT too he said thanks a lot for the help. Hopefully the guy is ok. 🙏🏻

Nice job Ian.

Halters Gravel Ride. Catastrophic Tire Failure after hitting a valve box in the grass that I didn't see until just before I hit it. The entire squad all chipped in to get me back up and riding, but I bailed as I didn't want to chance another issue. Went back to the shop after they were done to drop the bike off for service, and @jdog and shop crew gave me some late night customer service and got me back up on some new tires for my weekend of riding.
