The DIY thread - DIYourself

Unfortunately, we engineers here do write some of the manuals. Mine are always "perfect". Can't say that for some of the others.
Spoken like a real engineer, have you actually admitted being wrong? If so, did you instead try to explain why you weren't wrong...

Did I say I was wrong or needed to explain I wasn't? I just said mine are always "perfect". If something's wrong, I fix it. The others I speak of go on the defensive and blame others.

40yo Craftsman 3/8 ratchet maintenance

It stopped ratcheting. Pulled it apart, cleaned, lubricated, reassembled. Gotta be good for another 10.

I have a craftsman set I bought myself 20 years ago after I graduated college. Its been sticky for a while, guess this is the motivation I need to pull it apart!

relatively easy - just be mindful of the ball & spring in the switch area.

I bought this for my Dad when I graduated - cause I broke his inexpensive one....and maybe lost a socket or two.

Thanks for the heads-up.

My brothers and I have bought a few sets for my dad in our adulthood. Turns out he loses and breaks just as much of the tools as we did growing up.

Swapping a faucet and never had this piece too short. I have standard thickness granite tops and the previous faucet was a quarter inch longer. Is there a workaround or just need to find one with a longer piece?

Been thinking of how I can hold that ball in place, was having no luck with my smallest flathead. I wonder if using the c-clip and letting the ball rest in the hole will help. Post-turkey problem, so I can shoot it across the basement and never find it again.
