Lowe's typically carries cedar 1x material. Kuiken Brothers as well. Depending on where you're located, Wood Boards and Beams in Fairfield almost certainly does and, as a plus, that place is awesome if you're into woodworking at all.
Thanks. Lowes search function missed that when I was looking. Seems like they should have what I need (so long as every piece is not warped.) HD said they only stock cedar west of the Mississippi.

Anybody know where I can find 1"x4" x 8ft lengths of cedar? Looking to replace a few pieces of the top of our fence. Nobody local seems to stock this.

Alternatively, anyone have experience with HD's Weathershield pressure treated pine?
This place here in SJ probably has something.

I picked up this Husqvarna AWD mower for free from an estate sale cleanout about a month ago. I decided to keep it even if it was 2 years older than my current one, and sell the one I had (also a Husqvarna AWD) because the estate sale one had a bigger/better Honda engine, and because the one I was using I also had found for free about 5 years ago and it was running perfectly. I used the money I made off the one I sold to tune up the new to me one and did the spark plug, oil, oil filter etc... with a decent profit left over.

Been using the new to me one perfectly fine for over a month. Saturday afternoon was using it to mulch up the leaf piles I made and the self propel stopped working just after I got started. Was assuming the cable or the belt snapped and I would be SOL for the day.

Dragged it to the garage and checked underneath, could see drive the belt was very loose. Manually rotating the belt across the pulleys came to find the belt was definitely not on the front wheel drive axle. Pulled off the blade, belt cover and front axle covers to find the front housing was jammed with old debris, grass etc... and forced the belt to come off. For context this filled up one of the plastic shopping bags like from the grocery store.

Cleaned it all up and was back up and running in 20 minutes. Nice to claim a DIY win.

And in more hottub news - I think this is the third installment.

It started tripping the breaker around the 4th of July - Totally suspected the heating element.
at some point, the wifi module fell under the deck - I didn't really think about it, since the tub wasn't working anyway.

Decided to start working on it last week - the top panel says communication error. I pull the panel and it looks kinda nasty
underneath - drop $300 on a new panel, figure that will get me back to where I left off.

Plug in the new panel - same error. Great. Then i started to think about the wifi module.
So I unplug it from the controller, fire it back up, and we are back! at least to the point where it trips the breaker when the heat is called.

Onto Amazon - $36 for the heating element. an hour to swap it, cause I can't find the 10mm open end wrench.
Fire it up, and we are heating!

And yeah, top panel can not be returned - so that will be on eBay shortly for 50% off.
Goes up 4deg per hour - it was at 56. so 11 hours until warm.

Still, sub $200 repair is a win.

Oh, the wifi module landed cord up, so when it used to rain, it ran down the wire and into the unit - which wasn't sealed from that direction.
They are $200+, so does the hottub really need wifi? nah.

thats fine -this way your hot tub can't start ordering stuff for itself on Amazon since it's no longer connected to the Intraweb 😛

Well that was fun.
Finished the install on my mtbnj-approved Bosch DW

For good measure, replaced the supply and drain lines, which route under and around the lazy Susan. IMG_1328.jpeg

Okay, not quite done- need to anchor it and install the kickplate, but I’m done for tonight.

Anyone know the NJ codes for a floating deck? I did a COVID project with my kids which I'm not happy with after using it for a few years. The project was originally a set of platform stairs from the main deck down to a spigot and a side property entrance. It morphed into a 16x16 floating deck with 3 levels and platforms. It's also a tad over 30" on one side, by maybe 2-3 inches. I'm planning to reconfigure the floating deck to two levels and add a regular flight of steps to the spigot. Also lowering it by 8" so it's definitely under 30" high. When I first built this, the codes seem to to readily available and didn't need a permit. Additionally, we removed all our deck railings after we moved in 15 years ago since we didn't have little kids and they obstructed the view of the backyard. But plan to put them back on when we eventually sell the house. So the redesign should have this in mind.

Some garage love lately. I finally got around to installing the new opener that I got from @icebiker. That required me to install some bracing to mitigate the hack job that was done many years ago when the original opener was installed. This is just supporting some overhead storage, thankfully there’s not much above this spot here

I also got the bike racks off the garage floor. This is a nice step in the right direction, but as you can see in the background there’s still plenty of kids clutter to organize/thin out.

Looks good.

When you used it the first time did you double check it like the rest of us because it’s so silent ?

Yeah, I was able to use a single 10’ supply line, and went with the Bosch branded drain extension, this is all considerably less sketchy than what has been in there for probably more than 10 years (see bits in the pics).

Looks good.

I’ll let you know when I do-
we aren’t a family of 5, it could be a week or two. 😉

Is there a setting to switch off the white light on the front of the door? Mine has gone off a few days ago, the boss is not sure if she touched something...everything seems to be working OK otherwise. I thought I would ask on the Bosch Dishwasher Support Forum...
