New E-bike legislation in NJ

Wasted the time to read the law, it’s a total loss. E Mtb’s are pretty much illegal on all state park trails the way the law is written. It reads like my Kenevo is the same as a e Moto dirt bike.

This just goes to show how little thought and research went into creating this law. How many other laws we have on the books here in NJ that got the same level of effort?

Like I said, earlier that they had no input from people that were in the bike business to give them information on the legislation. I really think the only ones to work on the legislation where the insurance companies.

The Surron kids are still riding in gangs doing wheelies down the sidewalk here in Summit. No one cares.

Similar for the delivery drivers in Jersey City, cheating death on the regular (sans wheelies).

That said, most of these guys tend to be very courteous to pedestrians. Cars, on the otherhand, seem to be forever in their blind spot.

They ride stupid along the shore here. The man up the street from me put orange cones on the sidewalk bc his dog was hit by a e-bike. Dog wasn't hurt.
Wrong way, running lights and stop signs. In the summer it is 100x more. Also, on the boardwalk which is illegal anything electric including scooters. Nothing has ever been enforced so, that is where we are now.

I've been using the Lectric to get around town instead of a car. Bank, groceries, pharmacy, Home Depot, Taco Bell, etc. Anything that fits in the milk crate and I just upgraded to a larger tub. It's great. Then we got NJ'ed, but that won't stop me 🖕🏻
