H2H race #4...KSVP

When will the KSVP course will be marked? Anyone?

Anyone know when will the KSVP course will be marked? :hmmm: Thanks in advance.

We are meeting at 9 am tomorrow to start laying out markings and taking care of the one downed tree. If you're there feel free to say hi as you go by 🙂

Hey, is that the sorta sketchy log over towards the end of the course as you're going downhill towards the parking lot? It had a few smaller branches jammed on either side of it that were falling away.

We got rid of that one last weekend. The one Ryan's talking about is new- came down this week. It's right before the last long climb.

Its raining at KVSP, heavily. Coming up 206 from bridgewater I didn't hit it until right before crossing 80. Anyone looking to pre-ride should abort.

It started downpouring here in Parsippany the moment I uploaded the gpx to my garmin. Oh well, a pre-ride probably wouldn't have made that much difference. Hopefully it's not too messy tomorrow.

How does KV hold up after heavy rains?

KSVP is bad in the rain. Believe it or not but the park was located further north but since it sucks so bad it actually floated south over the years. But for serious I have no idea I just hope we can see the rocks hidden under the water in the middle of the trails.

If the rains let up later in the afternoon, would the trail be ridable? (really, really slowly, just to get the route in my head.) Or would I be the idiot carving huge ruts into the too-wet-to-ride-and-I-should-have-known-that trail?

We had a significant dry spell for the last month. The ground throughout our area is dry and dusty. I suspect that the rain will get soaked up nicely and conditions will be acceptable or even fine. I don't anticipate a mudfest. That would require rain all day today.

That would be a bad idea. The most damage is done immediately following rain when the water is still flowing on the trail. Let the course dry as much as possible.

1.65 inches fell. It should be fine by race, as the the woods were timber dry before. The rocks could get greased by late day, but I do not think it will be muddy, at worst a tad slick in the turns. We need rain bad. I have had 0 at my house yet. I'm still waiting.
