The IPA Thread

since we're on the topic of IPAs, if you haven't had the sam adams latitude 48 you're doing yourself a major disservice.

so sam adams must be tracking this thread or something. right now sam adams has a latitude 48 12 pack out that showcases the hops that they use in latitude 48 in individual beers. if you've always wondered "WTF hop is this get a 12 or two and get yourself edumacated.

also very good...

* Lagunitas IPA
* Harpoon Leviation Imperial IPA

Magic Hat also makes a couple interesting IPAs.

IMHO, Cricket Hill was undrinkable sh#t. Can honestly say that it is the only IPA that I ever stopped drinking and poored down the drain.

Just tried the Lagunitas IPA Maximus and it was so tastey....still my favorite Lagunitas is the Wilco Tango Foxtrot Ale

the Wilco Tango Foxtrot Ale

what there is a WILCO IPA??!?!?! How could I not have heard about this!!! by far my favorite type of beer coupled with my favorite band!!! my head might explode - must hunt this down!! I think I might cry just at the thought 😉

Weyerbacher unfiltered double simcoe ipa, comes in a 22oz bomber....try this beer, absolutely awesome.

could not agree more Macrusso - earlier in this thread I included it in my list of favorite IPAs. If you like the Simcoe - def. recommend u try the others if you havent already.

* Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA
* Dogfish Head Aprihop
* Smuttynose
* Terrapin Hopsecutioner
* Dogfish Head 60 Minute
* Stone IPA

I just got four in hand crafty ale IPA from whole foods in Middletown, it was very inexpensive(about 4.50/6pk on sale) it was pretty good. It had a Sierra Nevada taste, and went down very smooth, but make sure it's icy cold, it got gross as it got warmer

We have similar tastes, I have had everything you mentioned and they are all very good brews. Dogfish is one of my favorite brewery's, try the Squall IPA before it is off the shelf.

Great thread. IPA rocks.

Avoid Cricket Hill IPA. It comes from nearby Fairfield, NJ so I figured I would give it a try when I saw it in the store. I had high hopes but it did not deliver. Is inexpensive for an IPA and drinkable but not good.

DogFish Head 60 Minute is one of my favorites. The 90 Minute is great too but expensive.

Sierra Nevada IPA is only so-so. Not a very complex or interesting flavor.

I'm looking forward to some more suggestions from this thread 🙂

I thought the SN Torpedo was good but the ALC content was alil high. Their Christmas Ale is awesome.

Alaska Brewing Co IPA is good too.

Never had the Dogfish.

Not afraid of the dark - Black IPA's

So when I was in VT a couple of weeks ago,
found a few 6's of Magic Hat's Demo from the IPA on tour (they ran it in the spring).

Gotta say I'm enjoying them.
On a bit of a black IPA kick right now.

One's I've enjoyed:
Magic Hat Demo- really nice, solid roasted malt flavor,
well balanced without the obligatory over-hopped IPA finish. Very nice.

Widmer Brothers Pitch Black IPA- Once again nice, but not as balanced as the Demo. Solid hop finish, but still retains nice malt flavor. Bonus is my local store carries this.

Otter Creek Black IPA- not bad, but if you had this in a blind taste test,
you might be hard pressed to identify it as a "black" IPA.

Anyway, back to the Demo.
Going to be in VT this weekend, damn sure going to be looking for more.

Skipped right to this point. I didn't want to read the entire thing but I saw enough to know I am in the presence of fellow beer snobs. I love you guys.

Right now:
Brooklyn Summer Ale - Great post ride beer. Refreshing and awesome taste.
Harpoon IPA - It's an IPA that doesn't hit you in the face like an IPA should but for the summer, very nice.
My stock standard always in the mini-fridge beer is
Flying Fish ESB - I can't get enough of it. Liquid gold.

JSantana from the board here treated me to a 6pak of the Harpoon IPA as payment for some small parts, this beer is VERY drinkable and refreshing, if I cant find DFH 60 in the store, the Harpoon is my goto.

I know this is off subject and I am too lazy to search for the thread, but has anyone tried the Dead Guy ale aged in dead guy whisky barrels? I had it last night with my Thai dinner and it was delicious. It also brought out the sweetness of the sauce😀
