Hi, I'm new to mountain bikes in general. I just bought a Fuji Nevada 1.0 29er and I am looking for some decently maintained trails to ride for fun. Any advice on anything would help. Thanks.

Welcome, you'll find plenty of info here. As well as plenty of joking around. Don't take it to heart. I have two pieces of advice:

-Check out the trail directory

-Avoid the noid

Allaire is nice if you are just starting. Tuesday night beginners ride is a good way to meet other riders and learn the park. Ride usually starts @6pm.
Ed and Pat Gifford
the Snot Rocket tandem
PS- welcome to the fray!!!!

welcome aboard the allaire rides are a blast but will be winding down soon due to the lack of light..but check out the rides section if you post up in there you will get a tour for sure...

Welcome just about any of the trails maintained by JORBA are well maintained though they will be in need of TM after this weekend. I'm sure there will be postings for help to fix this weekends damages.

I'm new in central Jersey too...

Hey,

I'm new to biking in central Jersey too and I'm looking for some people to ride with. Anybody hitting a trial soon? Let me know and we can meet up. Thanks! - Joe

I'll be riding Hartshorne on Friday around 2:30...you're more than welcome to join me for a spin around the park.

How are the trails at hartshorne since the storm, people are saying its not worth going since there are tons of trees down.

Allaire is in better shape then Hartshorne. Hart has a lot of downed trees, you will be walking your bike more if you go there. Hart will probably take another 3-4wks to clear the trails.

Jorba(Frank & crew) have been working every night this week to cut up trees and clear trails at Allaire.

It's really not that bad at Hartshorne. Sure there are a few trees you need to go around or over (Laural Run has the most down) but it's really not that bad.

I'll be there today around 2:30 for a nice ride!😀

So I took a ride today in Lebanon state forest which has apparently changed its name to Brendan Byrne State Park. This is the closest trail to me. I rode the majority of the "white trail" which is almost non existent. Parts of this trail I felt as if I was riding through the woods with no trail. Anyway I had a good time ,but would not recommend this trail for people who mind brushing up againest bushes, jumping over tree limbs, and dodging half fallen trees lol. Maybe I'll just drive to the trails suggested to me by you all next time :hmmm:
