what was your first car?!?

I had an '88 Ford Bronco 2. That was the little gay one. It had 4WD and lots of space in the back so I could could drive out onto the beach and make-out with my lady friend. Who's now my wife. I eventually got it stuck up to the windows in a giant mud pit which left it DOA.

My second car I bought brand new. A '95 Z28. I totaled that car because I was young and silly. 3rd car was a '71 El Camino SS.

Of course that thing never ran so I bought my first VW, a '86 Jetta GL. I've owned nearly 30 cars at this point, almost all of them VWs. To this day, this is my favorite car I've ever owned. This was my first ever shell-up rebuild...

It was followed by a very ambitious widebody Starlet GT5 shell that I started dropping a 4AGE with dual Webers and a mustang rear end. I never got it running and sold the project...

Ahh I really missed this and would love to find one. Wasn't exactly mine as it was moms but she never got a chance to drive it 😀. My dad decided it was time to sell and I ended up rolling it after a midnight movie (madmax). Just one of endless moments of disappointment for my Dad.

1976 Ford Bronco last year of the box style setup with front winch. posi front rear 4x4. I had that thing up on the Appalachian baby!

Absolutely staggering what these wil fetch today. My dad had a 1970 Sport 302 . He taught how to drive a 3-speed column shifter with it..when i was 13. It was the plow vehicle in his gas station and my job was to plow snow around the gas pumps with one of these while barely tall enough to push the clutch pedal to the floor....No idea what the hell he was thinking lol

My first car was a 1972 Vega GT. Just like this but with black a black stripe.

Bought it for $50, it burned so much oil that I would have a gallon jug of straight 50 weight in the trunk and when the oil pressure would drop to zero I would get out and dump the whole 4 quarts in.😀

Rebuilt the engine and sold it for $650 to buy this 1970 Chevelle SS396.

Great car, wish I still had it. Sold it to my brother and bought my Mom's 1982 Omni GLH Turbo.

After that it went:

1990 GMC Z71 4x4
1970 Vette
1991 GMC Syclone (stolen)
1992 GMC 4x4 Stepside
1991 GMC Syclone (stolen)
1998 M3
2001 M3

Still have the Vette.

Did you know the "GLH" stood for Goes Like Hell?

My cousin has a 91 Syclone...maybe I should ask to see the paperwork on it.

1972 pus yellow Ford Pinto.

My Dad got it for a hundred bucks (in 1980) because they had a tendency to blow up when they got hit in the ass.

He told me not to let anyone hit me in the ass.

1976 Shit brown Datsun B210, just like the first one below. Googled these. I can't believe there are people that collect these. I was so excited to get rid of it and get a 1980 Chevy Citation X11.:scared:

this thread is turning out better than I thought... might have to find myself a project vehicle (and a place to store it) 😀

Yeah, the GLH was a sleeper. I embarrased a quite a few Mustangs and Camaros with it.

The Syclone launches like nothing else, but there is still nothing like a Big Block Chevy.:drooling: I'm messing with the idea of dropping one in the Vette.:hmmm:

1st car - 1960 Mercury Monterey - purchased for $175 - what a boat! You could live in the trunk.

2nd car - 1963 Split-window Corvette - Purchased as 2nd owner for $1400! How dumb was I to sell it in 1974 (age telling & 1st gas crisis days) for $3000?

Current car - not picture-worthy Mercedes - but I did insist on fold down rear seats so I could carry my mountain bike.

Pictures are examples.

Not much luck w/ the syclones huh? Those things were pretty badass.
I miss my M3!

im going to get in on this, although i didnt start out with rides like some of you did

my frist vehicle was a 1998 dodge dakota p/u truck w/ the v6, auto trans and a/c were the only options, paid 1100 for it MYSELF, it was sold about a year later when my mom got a new car and i got her old 2002 Durango(which i am still driving), which is pretty fully loaded (everything except the big v8 and cd changer), it goes plenty good enough for a daily driver of its size.

at some point i would like to buy a 2003 R/T, swap in a 6 sp manual and rebuild the 5.9 as either a 408 or 426

$3000 in 1974 is a pretty good price. I mean it was an 11 year old vette that cost what? $5000 new?

I came sooo close to buying a split window in the early 90's. Elected to buy a '69 Z/28 in a bucket instead. It worked out... I sold it 12 years ago to buy a Formula Continental and go racing. No regrets, though it stings sometimes. At least I'm still friendly the the guy who bought it ('still has it) and I have visitation rights.

well that is a fuel injected SW coupe...thats like the holy grail of sw's. I remember my father telling me about his 62 with an F.I. 327...he told me the first thing he did was remove it the FI set up, throw it somewhere and put dual quads on it. Usually he would smack himself in the head after telling this story 🙂

Yea, I know. The cheap ones are only going for like $60k.
