Feel better Jake. Give a holler if you have any questions. I've sort of become an expert with back treatment!

yeah, will do dave. i'm hoping that today's therapy (aka stim/massage/twisting my shit all up) will do the trick. feels pretty good now but we'll see tomorrow.

the shitty thing is i really can't afford a week's vacation from the bike right now. with the SSaP knockin', i need mo' miles.

Keep moving. If I sit too much I just get more pain. Walk and even ride slowly if you can tolerate it. And drink lots of water. Good luck!

Jeez, how can you guys go on about life-altering & debilitating back pain when my power is like 7% off because of these f'ing allergies?

After my slaughter of Philly's finest for lunch (and some of Nat's) I came home and semi-drilled myself on that long swamp loop self-TT thing I did last year. I held a 20.5 average to the end of the swamp, then rolled it out for the last 12 minutes or something to cool down. Felt better than expected. Allergies seemed a bit better today.

I think I'm going to just feed myself a steady diet of tempo rides for a while until these allergies pass. I'll try to remain scrappy on the A rides and I'll pop in at races and do my best. But as for weekday intervals I'm going to pass on those. Any upper end beyond about 20 seconds just isn't there. Climbing with power is a struggle. But tempo rides aren't so bad. Think I was at 285w for today's ride before I cooled down. Jim - my wattage on Strava was 14w lower. I suspect it may average 0s in. This is a flat route so not as much coasting.

No headache today, so maybe the allergies are waning a bit.

I plan to ride my bike every chance I get this week. Tomorrow I'll be out early then I'll do the A ride at night. Not sure what's going on on between. Maybe make some homemade juice of some sort. Not like orange juice but some form of uber-healthy green crap that I'll never drink after the first brew. I may just use the food processor. Is a juicer nothing more than a food processor and a fine mesh colander?

Day 3:
http://normbrero.blogspot.com/2012/04/easter-vacation-day-3-cheese-steaks.html

You guys are lame to let that first post go with no comment. I mean Carson has had like 12 hours and nothing. He's still got 26 minutes. Oh wait, maybe he was off.

Allergies feel significantly better this morning. I'm going for a ride in a few, then again later today from the shop. I'll just burn some calories this morning, then eat more. Then I'll suffer tonight. Looks like the cast is set for the round table this evening: myself, Utah, Pearl, and first-time-long-timer Jeremy. Iggy bowed out, and Esnes is sick. Carson & I have decided Iggy would be a handful when drunk. So he's not allowed to drink when this thing is on.

Going to do the 4/5 then 3/4 at the Cherry Blossom this Saturday. I'd love to ride home after that but that's a lot of work to make happen. Figure if I get there early enough, then do both races, that's plenty of riding. Should be a bunch of us out there so Newark will be seeing plenty of blue & orange.

Sun is coming up early, but man what's this 31 degrees stuff? Weak.

i have to be honest, I don't read normblog.

I don't like to share u with the general blog readers, if u don't post here I usually don't read it.

kinda bummed to miss tonight, looking forward to full re-cappage...may have to goto pearl/utah for this.

where is the magic camera?

i dance more and talk less when i drink.

the check is in the mail, sorry for delay.

The cheese steak was awesome, really goddamn good. There's no doubt I'll be back. And would push Fred to do that hit & run trip he mentioned yesterday. It would be semi-epic, especially the trip back. As you all know, I love food-based trips.

Iggy - you always say that about anything new. I bet you still own 8 tracks. But also, Normbrero predates anything I've done here.

Another good ride this morning. I'm cautiously optimistic that these allergies may be on the decline. Let's see how tonight goes.

interesting that Julia is also "smile challenged". my girls are EXACTLY the same way. they have beautiful natural smiles but put a camera in front of them and it's like some weird contortion that looks all wrong.

today is picture day at school. the results of this should be nothing short of terrible.

Ive had nasty allergies most of my life. Only in the last 5 year's or so have they been on the decline.

It's my experience that allergies will subside the days after a rain, then come back when everything dries out again.

I didn't want to be the one to break it to Norm about the rain/dry cycle.

However, I seem to only gte affected the first few weeks of bad pollen and then I am ok, so maybe Norm-o is the same.

It seems like everyone is different, every year. I've gotten them once before, but usually I'm fine. Nat gets them every year, but not this year. IDK, I just live here.

On Sunday after the Saturday rain, it was bad. I felt strong for like 20 minutes, and felt like I was going to end the ride with 2 KoPs*. By the end of the 2:20 ride I felt like I was riding in PB pavement. I was thinking about posting a YouTube video of one of those 1960's rockets that fly off into space then blow up. That's what Sunday felt like. About 1:20 in, the ride went to hell.

I spent a full day in Camden-Philly where there are not a shit-ton of trees. I may have just detoxed myself for 24 hours or so and I feel better because of it. It is what it is, at least I know it's there.

* P = playground, which is what this should be called.

There are some theories about flour and diet exacerbating seasonal allergic rhinitis, although I don't know how much peer reviewed evidence exists. I had a colleague who went vegetarian, no flour or refined sugar for the bloom season and she was great. She tried I as a final alternative to surgery. Saline flushing of the nasal passages also provides relief to some, and obviously antihistamines like loratadine, fexofenadine and cetirizine also prove very helpful to many (I take loratadine for about one month; typically May). They often dry you up quite a bit, so you need to top up on fluids. If nasal. Ingestion doesn't subside, taking the pseudo ephedrine Versions often helps, but those are serious stuff.

I'm ok this year even with an early bloom. I do have antihistamines and saline drops ready for it and will try the nasal flushing this year if necessary. I'm cutting down the flour and upping the fruit too.

Ya jeremy and I had is easy yesterday...we only did 1 A ride 🙂 Good time, food was awesome!

not a fan of the round tables, lasted 2 min on this one. Honestly the kid dynamic does mean in, I can only handle dealing with my 5 year old and hearing julia call a bunch of times tips me into the "too much 5 year old" zone.
