Mercer County Park Conditions

That's why they make bikes with suspensions 😀

We would have to ask for permission to do re-routes

Or we could use the killer tiller to recover the trail tread

Mick-
Just need some cleanup. With the missing link at one end and the flooding from south post rd it doesn't see as much traffic and is just not as cleaned up as we've made the redst of the park... From my poor memory..
There was a tree down, about 1/3 through from conover (L or M perhaps).. And the first bridge from the east(p7) (the missing bridg?) has a 3 foot gap thanks to the a$$hat that keeps removing planks. I have been working on some ideas to make it tamper proof, I'll bring by some sketches to the next TM.

Upper Blue

Muddy,

The lane off of south post had chips dumped and spread a week or so ago
I asked for another load so we can use wherever needed
The bridge was reported to the park and i am hoping for a sign
The ahole took every one of the 6" lags out of the deck
We should have cemented them in If you can send me your ideas
ahead of the TM maybe we can impliment them
I have autcad so if they are in drawings I can open them

Looking good, except blue up north

I did 16 miles at MCP today. Trails were great, deer abundant, and sun shining. One downside was the upper blue trail off of s post behind the boathouse - totally flooded out from the rain. Sure it'll clear up soon though. Once again those TM geniuses have made the park so enjoyable. Great work guys and gals!!!

Any ideas for conditions today?

Not sure as we got a fair bit of rain. The drier areas may be pretty nice as they were getting way dry and sandy previously. I would expect mud in the usual spots...by the dam and such. upper blue is likely under water again.
Check it out and post back what you find please. 🙂

Sunday - Rode blue north of the powerlines. The last TM work we did off of Conover road is packed in nicely. No More MUD. Missing bridge is still intact! Thorns are in full growth mode so next TM will certalinly be walk N clip. Also rode holygrail and red by the kiosk- east Picnic area, same deal. Time to get the clippers ready!

How's it look for a ride on Sunday?

Not looking good at the moment. The rain has been coming down in buckets all day. :-(
Maybe some of the better draining trails will be rideable by Sunday afternoon but I doubt it (Definitely avoid Blue)
If you check it out, let us know.

How do the trails look? Good to ride tomorrow (Sunday morning)?

We were out for trail maintenance this morning. Most of the treads were wet but firm. The lower lying areas were a but squishy. Anything that gets any sunlight was good. It should have dried up a bit today and tonight as well.
I'm planning to ride at 6:30 am tomorrow so I can post an update after as well. 🙂

Same as yesterday out there. Fully saturated, mostly firm with soft spots and puddles in the lower spots. The trail along the creek by the dam is under water because the creek Is over flowing. All the dips on the trail have about a foot of water.
Also there is a run there today so access might me tight at times. We only rode Van Ness and bailed because of conditions. Probably not worth your time to ride there today. I'd suggest waiting a couple if days.

Thanks Mike for the report. Bummer.
Looks like another road ride then.

Lets see if we can arrange a ride sometime. I'm traveling for work this week but back late on Friday.

Just got back from MCP and besides the fact that every man who ever fathered a child is there today celebrating the holiday, it def needs a few days to dry out. Lots of mud in anything low lying. I didn't even attempt to go near any trails by the lake.

Anything by the dam and the creek is out of commission. Also there is a tree down (actually two together) on the blue trail between the boat house and the double bridges. Too high to go under; I climbed over it with my bike. Not fun. It looks like some storms may hit this afternoon too...

I did see this Mark, We'll get to that. 😉

Michael, thanks for all your attention and hard work to make MCP a great place to ride...I don't think that's said often enough, at least by me, so THANKS!

Thanks for the props man. It's our pleasure. I truly enjoy cutting, hacking and digging out there. 🙂 What's ironic is that I'm going for chain saw training this weekend 😉
That tree is going down when I get back! Lol

Got in a great ride just before the rain hit. Finally found my way onto the blue trail from South Post Road. Was having SO MUCH fun until I came out by the power lines and couldn't figure out where to go. A deer stared at me for about five minutes while I tried to match up my GPS and trail map, but alas I had to hit the road and head back to the East Picnic parking lot. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise since it started raining as soon as I got back.

So can anyone tell me where I should have picked up the trail again? It looks like from the map I should have made a left as soon as I came out but I'm curious how far down the trail drops back in. Thanks!

And, again, thanks to everyone who maintains the trails. They were in great shape. If I'd only have carried some handy trimmers like Tom suggested, I could have cut back a few thorns. Next time. 🙂

I had the same experience my 1st times at Mercer. I checked everything that seems like trails, but each dead end. You do have to take the roads back to the east picnic area.
