2014 nue

I'll be in for 3 of those, maybe 4. The best first 100's to try pearl would be the Wilderness 101 or Shenandoah 100. Closest races and best organizer in Chris Scott - hands down.

Sweet! I've been alone for way too many of these. Let's get some local support at these 100's and maybe I'll share some of my top secret course info 😉

Mohican is another good first time race, but it's a bit further away.
I plan to do these 3 this year.

Mohican Wilderness Shen are all really cool events!

I'll doing those and adding one or two more... Tbd

I'll be back at Mohican for round 5?6? this year. That's my hands down favorite all time course. Some amazing flowy singletrack in there. I signed up for Cohutta today 😀

Shen, NH, and perhaps wilderness.

Planning a month out west (2 weeks Idaho/2weeks Oregon) and aiming for Cascades 100 as well.

What kind of drives from central NJ are we talking about for Cohutta and Mohican?

From Parsippany, Cohutta was 13hrs and Mohican 8. Cohutta is in Ducktown TN and Mohican is in Loudonville OH if you want to check the timing. Both worth the drive.

Cohutta hurts though if you're flying solo and doing the drive in one day after completing the race the day before. I've done it and it's not fun. I think I was slapping myself in the face the entire state of PA to stay awake on the drive home.

That's lumberjack. Mohican starts with 25 miles of amazing foley single track and then has a lot of other good trails thrown on along the way. It's probably 70% single track/ double track.

High Cascades 100 is still one of my favourite hundy courses I've done.

Is Mohican the course that's mostly singletrack or is that Lumberjack?

It's a lot of single, but there is a fair amount of sandy double-track in there. The only tarmac is the first couple of miles where you're on the road riding back to the race area.
