Cannondale lefty mandatory service

So will there be an update for the Solo-Air in the older (boot) models? Not needed? Or just too old to get the upgrade.

Forks made with a boot are not included in this update.

I'm wondering why though. Not looking for some recall upgrade, just wondering if in the future if there's a replacement for the solo-air cartridge for the older models. IE, if the new one fits the old which I doubt.

It would almost seem odd for Cannondale to not just replace the solo-air in the older models with the new one for service work. Kind of like how they got away from that bad wave washer design.

I dont think they ever had an issue. It was a different design. I know I never had one fail in like 10,000+ miles on my booted lefty

Ironically things got weird when the Rock shox parts were added

Whats funny is that I had two solo air RS forks...they both failed several times...Rockshox would not, not could not figure out a way to stop this from happening

No issue for me either, I just assumed if it was a general solo-air replacement it may be available for the older models too.

Who am I kidding anyway. Mendon would just send the fork back with a note "Replaced Solo-Air with XXX. $40" if this was the case.

First ride on my lefty since being serviced and it seems much much better. Maybe it's because I've been on a rigid 29er, then road bike, then cross bike.... So any suspension would feel good?

I reset it before my ride and it always felt a little harsh on the first ride after a reset, but it felt perfect today.

Anybody else notice a difference after the recall service?

It is a big difference. Seems more responsive to small bumps and moves through the travel more easily.

Most people have reported back and improvement in ride feel and control.

Please make sure you get your hybrid lefty to have this n/c service done asap.

I had the service done and there is definitely a big difference in the fork. I tested it out at chimney rock and the ride felt a lot smoother. It's supple, responsive and softened out the ride. I was pleasantly surprised at the improvement. It almost feels like I'm riding a new bike! Thanks to @jdog and Halter's for taking care of it for me.

My '16 Lefty 2.0 XLR is at the Caffeinated Cyclist this week. Will report after the first ride.

I had been doing bearing resets after almost every ride as I wasn't getting full travel. Experimented with air pressure from 150psi, down to 130. Removed volume spacers and running 150psi again. Suspension seems very linear in travel and dives pretty easy.

@jdog would you recommend putting the volume spacers back in after the service?
