Car-spotting thread

Pretty sure they’ll find

Pretty sure they’re not gonna let a leaky sunroof exist for the life of the model.

The best GTI to get is one with the least options. The optioned ones are no faster than the unoptioned ones. The LSD is nice coming out of slow corners, but it’s not a game changer unless your driving 10/10ths all the time. I drove back through rural Pennsy and NY state after trout fishing the upper Delaware last night, and the car absolutely rails on those roads.

You have an S?

I have an older S. Honestly though, if I were to get another one, I'd try to find a certified SE with cloth seats, that seems to be the options sweet spot. Should be some around with low miles in the low 20's. The Autobahn edition is excessive, GTI's shouldn't cost nearly $40k.

I'm in car buying indecision mode right now. I like the RS3, but waiting for certified ones to pop up. What I really want is a Cayman, but am hung-up on the new 2.5L, although its better in every way than the old H6 except for sound (which isn't actually awful). The old H6 GTS's are so overpriced, considering a new 718S will smoke them. P-cars are so over-priced period, although 200 feet down the road and through a couple of turns in a Cayman, and you begin to understand the hype. Having said all that, a well driven GTI on the right road will keep up with just about anything. My pathetic first-world problems, but I've paid my dues here in the first-world to have them.

What is the noise level in the Cayman compared to the Boxster? I wonder about the engine being truly outside the cabin area on the Boxster, and not resonating through a roof, being quieter?

is that a Duel reference?

Nope, at least not intentionally. But I do remember watching that movie as a kid (in Italian) so it may have been a subliminal reference after all...

Dennis Weaver, I remember him in McCloud , loved that show (again, I was watching it as a kid back in Italy, it was called 'Uno Sceriffo a New York' )

As a former Carabiniere I felt insulted at first as to my knowledge there had never been a similar abomination. After a quick search though it appears that last year a car that looks exactly like that was sold at a Bonhams auction in Padua, Italy. It's a 1600 HF armored actually used by Carabinieri in Naples. Turns out the car was registered in Greece. If it's the same car I guess it made it to the US!

I prefer this...

and I wish I could have had done this!

Ok, I'm convinced that it's the exact same car sold in the Bonhams auction. Not an HF tho. The question is why on earth somebody would go through the trouble and cost of having it shipped from Italy. Different strokes I guess.
