Winter Gloves

Been running these for a bit. Decent bar feel for how thick they are. High quality compared to the gore stuff I’ve run in the past. Shipping wasn’t bad from what I remember considering they’re from Ireland. Took about two weeks to get though.

And when it’s hand warmer cold I have these battery powered hand warmers that work as good as those chemical hot hands. Makes me feel better about myself for not tossing those things in the trash all the time.

Bumping this for suggestions. What's everyone currently using? No gravel or road bikes, only mtbs that get ridden on all surfaces.

Morning dawn patrol ride Tues (32deg) and today (27deg), my fingers got cold. This morning, had a hard time opening the garage door when done because fingers were so numb. Have 2 pairs of winter gloves, took both with me today and switched a few times during the ride.

Started with these, new back in Jan '25. https://www.gorewear.com/us/en-us/windstopper-thermo-split-gloves-100656?variant=2664

Then switched to these during the ride. A few years old, basically look like this. https://www.beachwoodbikes.com/product/pearl-izumi-elite-softshell-gloves-200752-1.htm

Why did you switch? May be add glove liners

My hands were cold in the Gorewear pair, so swapped to the P.I. to see if they were warmer. Not interested in adding a liner.
I added the lobster Evo PIs to my arsenal last year, worked very well. They have a full-on lobster version as well, but I like having some finger dexterity

Thanks. Looking at the reviews, they're all over the place with "warmest glove ever", "works 10deg - 40deg", to "fingers were cold in 10min."

Almost pulled the trigger on a "warmer" Gorewear model, 5 finger or the lobster type, but all the reviews say the sizing is way off.

How are they with sizing? I'm right on the borderline of Med Lg. Pretty sure the P.I. 5 fingers I currently own are Med.

I had a version of the PI lobster ones and they are legit. While PI doesn't make very good jerseys and shorts, they excel at gloves and booties. At a point in time they were my 20 and under glove.

The answer sleestak are the best winter cycling gloves ever made but are long discontinued. There is no explanation why they are so much warmer than other gloves and are not bulky, but they have primaloft insulation so that might be the key.

I have had a few pairs of gore gloves, as good as their winter jackets are, somehow the gloves never lived up to expectations especially with the higher price tag.

You could consider a shell over an existing glove, I have an assos pair that I use on the road under 25.

One tip is to look at the dew point. The last few mornings the temp wasn't very cold but the dew point was 10 degrees less and is what makes things feel raw at low temps. So if the temp was 32 and dew point is 22, I go with the glove I would wear for 22.

Never really thought about the dewpoint. The Accuweather RealFeel was in the low 20s both days. Think I've made my decision on the P.I. gloves that @Bikeworks posted.

Not going to ask about winter shoes at this point. Toes were cold, but probably also dewpoint related. I have used thinner socks and chemical warmer inserts under foot and the small warmer on top of the toes for low 20deg days.

I’ve got a pretty old pair of PI winter 5 finger gloves that still work well.

I use the chemical hand warmers on the topside of my hands when it’s this cold.

One other trick before a cold ride is to warm up the gloves by the heat register or in the car vent just before riding. That seems to make a big difference for me and I ride road all year round. Preheat trick also key for the shoes too.
