God I love Craigslist.......

Just stick with it and ignore the tire kickers. When you have someone serious, you'll know it. Everytime I think I should just delete an ad, someone pops up to renew my faith in humanity. That being said, my last two bikes were sold on Pinkbike and for local pickup to real bikers who know a good deal when they see it.

Check bicyclebluebook.com to see if you have priced your bike right. The used market is certainly soft, but I just sold a $2000 MTB within two weeks. You should also list it here!

And always meet at a public place. Police department parking lot, your local bank under their cameras, or a busy strip mall.
Thanks for the advice! Yes I’ll be conscious about safety. I won’t have them come to my home for one.

Many police stations now have an area in their parking lot marked for people to meet for online exchanges. I did have several buyers ghost me as soon as I mentioned meeting at a police station even if I was willing to drive to the town where they said they live.

This! I have bought and sold a fair amount of random stuff on FBMP and there's a bit of an art to knowing when you have someone serious.

I can confirm I am indeed a weirdo. 😆
Now I'm curious on what you're selling. Sell on here if you just want it gone. Seems most here are savvy lowballers including myself. I've had my Ventum frame for sale all winter on FB and get a daily knock for if it's still available. I just took it down to put more pics and removed the one of the whole bike, cause people don't read any of the words which mentions many times that it's only frame and fork. Like Carson I have good luck on PB for better bikes. Mid and low range or older bikes are flooding the market and sometimes you just have to give it away. I'm considering this for 2015 Orbea Rallon which I won't get more than a few hundred. I'm planning to gift it to a relative or friend. Good luck and be cautiously safe, lots of wackos out there.

It’s a 5 year old DTC brand full suspension trail bike. It retailed for over 2000 at the time and has upgraded wheels. I’m asking under 1000 for it and met with someone earlier in the week but he didn’t offer me what I thought was a fair price. Someone might come today too. It was my first FS but didn’t get ridden much since I upgraded my bike after a year and it just sat in my basement since.

Thanks for the tip! I meet buyers at a busy parking lot in my neighborhood in the daytime so I think it’s safe enough. 😀

I always meet people in the parking lot at the municipal complex in front of the police station. I have sold maybe 5-10 things on FB MP, and have a 100% success rate with the transactions.

I will say that most of those sales were in the "I am desperate for anything because of Covid" times, so people may have been more eager to throw dollars at anything to help them get through the day.

I was able to get rid of 4 Jack Kevorkian Self Help Kits during that time. Wonder how those people are doing.

Check the blue book value, yeah they are low but seems about 10-20% higher is a realistic local NJ price from my experience. For example two years ago, I sold a 5yo Pivot mach 429 for $1500, a lot less than the 4k retail price. So expect to get a hit, it's just what the market is at in reality.

No refunds.

Ebay is almost as entertaining...
If this was real, it would be a good deal.
