If you'd consider a full suspension I've been considering parting with my Knolly. I'd be within your price range, and even with 26" wheels it still rips. Has an angle headset that gives it modern geo.

So they beat at least 200 "serious" gravel racers, on overpriced 80's mtb meets '24 road bike hybrids, with spay bombed Wally World beach cruisers. And probably had way more fun and laughs than whoever won. These guys are freak'n heros in my book !

Have you tried it with 29's ? I have a set I could loan you to try out, and if you liked id consider selling them. They're not fancy, so I wouldn't be upset if they got messed up.
