Alleged botanist claiming the region in the SW corner of the park is too steep for trails. Pink flags are not in the correct location according to the map she claims. Tires will carry seeds to other locations of the park. The fact that the flags are already there and the residents are just now...

    Watchung News 12/9/2016

William Toth - Plainfield, NJ -- park use was laid out years ago and should not be altered. Bike trails ruin vistas and forest solitude. Bikes threaten forest animals. Changes proposed will disturb soil and plant life. MTB and hiking are incompatible. There will be too many bikers bombing trails...

Summit resident wants a 200'-500' buffer between his property line and any trails in the park. Need to preserve open space in Union Co for future generations. We pay high property taxes and don't want to pay more for this development.

    Watchung News 12/9/2016

Mountain bikers are bad guys and shouldn't be allowed in the park. They tore up trails back in the 90's and caused lots of erosion. Nobody maintained the trails. Nobody is going the follow the rules and there is no way to enforce the trail map. Police must be on foot to enforce. County must take...

Packed room. I would say 50-50 bikers and hikers. Hikers get to comment first. Lots of repeating of bad/wrong/incorrect information from them so far. Complaints about not giving 'notice' about meetings regarding MTB in Watchung. <sort of live blogging this if you care to hear the debate>

Yellow trail at the "pile of logs" closed off

You have not made your case. All you've done is posted a bunch of personal preferences to this thread. The IMBA book talks about fall-line trails and what does and doesn't work. Despite what you'd have others believe, there's nothing inherently wrong with them. Several posts back you claimed...

Yellow trail at the "pile of logs" closed off

I guess my preference, and I would hope the decision makers are of similar mindset, would be to want to make the new trail in the spirit of the old trail. Arguments (which I totally disagree with) have been presented in support of the new trail. Maybe I'm way off base here but wouldn't you...

Appreciate the offer. It's very kind of you. I'll have to take a Raincheck. We should all be able to disagree without being disagreeable.

I'll just have to agree to disagree with you here. Much of what you posted deals with personal preference and I respect your opinion.

Yellow trail at the "pile of logs" closed off

It is only because everybody sues everybody in America. When someone quotes 'insurance' or 'lawsuits' as an answer to a question, they might as well say nothing. We're one of the most litigious societies in the world, maybe the most litigious. MCPC will either deal with the increase in...

Yellow trail at the "pile of logs" closed off

So it's unfortunate it took nearly 2 pages of blathering to get to this, which finally answers the question in my original post (#7). Thanks for taking the time to answer. Could you point me to the material you submitted in your proposal along with any supporting documentation the Foreman or...

Yellow trail at the "pile of logs" closed off

The JORBA rep for LM is on this board and should be able to provide answers. Best I can tell, there are no legitimate answers. So when I go into LM and open up the old trail with my buddies, I get a little jaded when I go back in the following week and someone, without authorization, has closed...

Thanks for chiming in here Jim. What 'plan' was this based on? JORBA's? Morris Co Parks? Others indicated it was closed w/o JORBA or Morris Co input. What fact can you share? Thanks
