It’s odd. Sometimes the pacer rides are easy or seem slow and other times the can be more challenging for the same pace level. I think it can depend on the route and how many people are in the group. Smaller groups seem more challenging to me. Maybe because of the smaller draft

I have never really worried about it. Usually just drift to the back of the pack before a climb so I can work my way up or soft pedal the descent if I get too far ahead.

Yes I think they have tried to address the robopacer thing but it’s still noticeable. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. I try to stick with the higher w/kg pacer rides knowing that I may be able to hang in if the route is a little rolling. I can use the uphill sections to catch up

That’s how I found out about it too. Was getting dropped on descents

Yes, I think that is accurate. Good article here: https://zwiftinsider.com/using-the-trainer-difficulty-setting-in-zwift/

I run a similar setup with the AppleTV connected to an old 40 HD tv by a cable. Supposedly the graphics are better on a PC but they are good enough for me. Super convenient setup though. I am up and riding in less than a minute most days.

If you are planning on focusing only on Zwift then look for one labeled Zwift Ready. Good article here: https://zwiftinsider.com/zwift-ready/ Virtual shifting is pretty much limited to Zwift. You don’t technically need the Zwift Cog to use virtual shifting in Zwift (just need the Click...

Did that race yesterday but in the D range. Fun course. Managed 5th.. was able to hang for most of the race but the KOM climb got me at the end. One too many kickers. Fun though

Hard to beat the trainer for convenience. I jump on for an hour and get a good workout in. The Zwift pacer rides work well for me but I mix in a race once in while to keep it interesting. I don’t ride outside much at all anymore.

    2025 Garden Thread

May not be a good squash year…. Tromboncino zucchini plant in the foreground was doing great a couple of days ago. Now it’s just about gone. There was another one next to it that quit last week. We have one more one the other side of the garden and will see if that makes it. The Cucuzza...

    2025 Garden Thread

We have 5 maples along the back of the house. It has been so bad the past couple of years that we don’t want to sit out on the deck at this time of year because we get pelted by them incessantly. Hate to take down nice mature trees but am getting tired of it. Plus they clog the gutters

    Smart trainers

Just know that going with the Cog locks you into Zwift. Right now their virtual shifting only works on their platform. You can still use the virtual shifting on Zwift without the Cog. You just need their shifters

Someone had a Zwift Hub for sale on here a while back for a good price. It would be a cheap and very capable intro into smart trainers

If think you need to run all the sensors thru the companion app because the Apple TV has limited Bluetooth connections

For Zwift I think connecting with AppleTV makes a huge difference. I can be up and riding in a minute or 2 with a click of the remote

    Outdoor Speaker Set Up

I have been very disappointed with the latest Sonos app. It is wonky and not user friendly at all. I went with a portable Sonos Move for outdoor listening. It works well when we are out there and I get the added benefit of having another Sonos speaker in the house when we are inside. Just...
