1/2 Ton Trucks

on internet - must be true.

btw - I got the 6.2L in the Yukon...no messing around with turbos...
that video is 100% real. in fact you can find hundreds if not thousands of real videos of single cab coyote f150's making 1200+ hp on the street. Quite common these days.

Shit, Cleetus put a whipple on Sams 100% stock 2024 5.0 regular cab....then they did that "sick summer" race with it and it went 11.35 @122

Anyway, I have rented a couple of 5.0 powered f150s, man that engine is awesome....And I think if I was planning on owning a vehicle for over 200k...id probably lean towards the 5.0 over the 3.5 myself.

Jason my son had a choice when shopping, 2016 3.5 or 2014 5.0
We took the 3.5 first and he really liked everything about it, but then he tested the 5.0, from turning it over he was sold. The 5.0 just sounds so bad ass it was a no brainer for a 23 year old lol.

I have a 2017 F150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost and it's been great. I've been shopping for a replacement, mostly looking at mid-sized trucks (Tacoma, Colorado, Ranger). I keep coming back to the F150 for several reasons: 1) Don't want a 5' bed - I like being able to toss any of my bikes in the back with the gate closed. 2) The gas mileage of the small trucks is no better. 3) Aluminum body. I see many, many pickups around Sussex County with horrible body rust. Mine looks great, barely has a door ding and I used it as a work truck and it was never garaged. It's also around 600lbs lighter than the previous steel version. I had a 2014 previously and the difference was very noticeable. The current F150 weight is not too far off that of the smaller trucks.

I'm surprised at the performance of the 2.7 motor. It never feels under powered, but I'm not pulling an RV. I've noticed that dealers are starting to deal again. You can easily get $3-4k off the sticker price. Lightning is tempting, but not at the current prices. Not good for long-haul towing either.

Yea, mine has zero rust too. Great point and reminder...
I like the look of the Sierra Elevation, but I think I may stick with the ford at this point. Found a few with the towing package.
Just need to see if I can justify it when mine still runs well. But trade in is still around $8k so it may be worth it.

Just put an alternator in... looking more at trading it in. Does anyone have a 2022+ Sierra... Torn between another f150 or moving on.

I guess I ended up with basically the same truck, just with a lot more bells and whistles... Stuck with the 5.0 since the last one was good to me... Didn't even bother driving a 3.5, the 10sp trans makes such a difference compared to the 6 speed.

You should be a major contributor in next year's garden thread.
Kids love it, and wow, it can produce a bunch.
(we lived off that and $4 hens for quite a bit)

Oh, remember to work the income side. I think I have a post somewhere in the retirement thread
where people work the cost side hard, but don't work the income side.

So we are back looking for a truck again as boy wonder totaled his 2014 f150. He lined up the front tow hook perfectly on a tree. Taking a shot to see if anyone here has anything or seen anything. Preferably something close to same but 5.0 not Ecoboost.

My 2016 still ran strong, but I traded it in... I'll be selling my 2022 soon to upgrade to a 3/4 ton. But it's probably not something you want for a kid. Good luck with your search.

22 would be out of his price range for sure but thanks.

Why no ecoboost? I love the 3.5 twin turbo in mine.
