12 Speed cassette question

Are are 12sp 11/51 cassette Micro spline? I have an older I9 wheelset that I want to run 12 speed but only cassettes I'm seeing are microspline

Yes 12sp Shimano cassettes are microspline. You may be able to grab a microspline freehub from I9 for your wheelset

Some of the sunrace 12 speed cassettes work with the older shimano HG freehubs

for example, Sunrace MZ90

Sram makes a 11 by 50 cassete that fits the regular old shimano style hub. 12 speed I have one on my bike. Heavy though.

none of aftermarket cassettes shift as good as the shimano ones. may as well bite the bullet and future proof your hubs and get the microspline driver from i9.

I'm afraid nothing is future proof, bike companies will make sure of that.

I've had good experiences with Sunrace. Had a few and shifting was pretty good

Yep I could never tell any difference in shifting from Sunrace and Shimano. Your mileage may vary
