2012/2013 XC Ski Thread

Hartshorne was skiing (have about 6-7 inches) ok today with a few thin spots on the downhills. Anyone know how much snow is in the Mahlon area?

I laid some freshies from the park n ride at mahlon. We could hit that or just have Iggs break some trail at one of the mooches.

I'm inclined to think that Mahlon is more xc ski friendly. With less climbing it may be better for Jake + Mahlon snow always seems to be good conditions.

I'd also go with a later start tomorrow. Its gonna get cold tonight and freeze any soft/wet snow up. How does 9:30 sound...it may still be crusty/icy for the first hour but conditions should get better.

Went to Allaire today and put in about 14 miles. Started out good but the 4-5" of cover got soft as the day wore on. There was a lot of foot traffic and bike traffic on the trails, with the warm sun bare spots started to appear.

Still a good day at Allaire. You can really work your turns in the tight singletrack.

Over a foot at my house this morning, so I expect RW and Harriman the same. I skied Waway today and cover was good, about a foot also. From cherry ridge I did porcupine, rockadendron, mojo, turkey ridge, buda to split rock. Did scrape a few rocks coming down split rock, but overall very good.

I plan to go out tomorrow as well, maybe harriman, and would be up for tag alongs.

Ok, that wasn't terrible. Did a mile and a half of breaking trail. That's work man...especially since most of my trip was uphill.

If we get a group at Mahlon i will be happy to hang back and show the newbies the way of the redneck jedi:getsome:

My plan is park n ride at 8, i need to get back earlier. I'll meet up with you guys at 930

Where's Woody and Utah??

I'd rather the company but Brett is still planning on going later, get in touch with him

I'm gonna park on Sky top Dr. and make a big clockwise loop around the whole reservation. This place is popular with show shoe'ers, hikers and xc ski'ers. Hopefully there is trail beaten in for most of it.

I should get there by 10ish...let me know if you want to meet.
