2015 Tour de France Thread

Love Drunk
Jerk Squad
Starts this Saturday, July 4th, with a short time trial. Looks like the stars have aligned to have more than 2 GC contenders this year with Froome, Contador, Nibali and Quintana with some outsiders in Peraud and Bardet. Most look to be on form and I think Nibali was sand bagging at Dauphine. Contador may be able to pull the Giro/Tour double, which will be a first for this generation. Oh yeah, Tejay too, but meh, how much can you expect from someone named Tejay?

In non-GC, even though Cavendish will say that he wishes to go head-to-head with Kittel and Bouhanni at least limited for the first few days, we will likely see Cavendish take over sole place third place for most tour wins and possibly tie or unseat Hinault. Sure you have Greipel, Sagan, Degenkolb, Matthews and Swift around but none can match Cavendish in a drag race and he is on excellent form this year and I will be rooting for the little guy. Again, history in the making possible.

Glad to see Quintana back, after that 2013 performance I was disappointed last year.

It would be a refreshing change to see the favorites make it through the first week without crashing out. Not sure who I am rooting for yet. Would like to see Froome, Quintana and Contador going after it in the the mountains

What's GC? Like overall winner?
General Classification. The overall leader based on time. When you hear the commentators talking about the GC contenders, they are referring to the group of people in the top 10. Similar to last year, we will likely see some of the GC get sorted out pretty quickly as no one will want to get left out on stage 3, with the Mur de Huy at the end, which is basically Fiddlers Elbow at the end of the stage. And then the next day is the stage with cobbles, so if it is wet like last year, there will probably be some carnage.

Stage 4 is the wild card with the cobbles, if it is dry, ok, wet, carnage. Otherwise we should see them get there. I don't want to see Froome win as I don't like his calculated "I am going to ride 'x' watts on this climb" style. One thing that is for certain, we will see attacking from the GC, which has been missing in the last few years BECAUSE power meters. Hopefully Contador is down on time a bit because that mofo fights until the end, always.

I know this is almost like rooting for Hitler, but I'll cast my lot with Contador this year. I assume every day that he wears the yellow jersey a shipping container of kittens is thrown into the ocean. Well if so, sucks for the cats because I think his rotten meat will be on top this year.

Mur de Huy - cannot get "sea of hay" out of my head here.

I could get on the Contador boat. Like him or hate him, he is a fighter.

after watching clean spirit i am bummed that kittel is out. and i might be rooting against cavendish even though the guy is an animal. i think i could pull for quintana, but i think i'm just gonna have to watch and hopefully a natural favorite will pop out. but i can't get behind contador. its like being a fan of A-Rod to me.
