And then…great race. It would have been better if both elite finals did not go offline right at the end…also, I would much appreciate if the moronic duo did not disclose the winner of the women’s race during the early stages of men’s finals. WTF!?!?

2nd race in a row they did this. They just aren't being told not to do it. Also I feel like the broadcasting hit a new low overall today. We were seeing riders like bruni 4 seconds up and then the next split a second down and... nothing. Crickets from these idiots. Zero explanation and zero conversation. I hate them.

Overall I was not excited about this race coming into today because even though I like the val di sole course, my favorite rider did not qualify, gwin is out and just generally it felt weird in the qualies. And during the race it was so unclear if we were seeing errors in timing or course issues that the morons weren't explaining. But the last 10 riders were great and it ended up being a pretty exciting race with a clear winner. Not the best but still a good race and lots to talk about later this week.

A nail-biter to the end for the men's final. Definitely fun to watch.

On site production could definitely be better. They have cameras covering most of the track, but due to the starting splits, some concessions to timing have to be made. Still, they should still be able to record the sections of the track in case there is something happens that could be replay-worthy.

I don't blame Rick and CG as much as the producers. The announcers can only talk about what they know and it's the producers' jobs to feed information to them. Much like how stats guys feed data to the color commentator during NFL games.

One more thing...was I the only one annoyed at CG repeating over and over the 'petting the snake' joke? I get it dude, the track is called black snake, get over it.
 
Three races in and Cedric is still awful to the point where it's hard to enjoy the feed. It would honestly be better with just Rick giving a brief rider bio and then shutting up. Even my wife, who doesn't really watch this stuff, is mentioning how much she misses Rob in the commentary booth.
 
Well... on the bright side, we'll get our Rob fix in a couple of weeks at Hardline.

Word is Goldstone will be getting his appendix removed and won't be there to defend.
 
One thing I've noticed is that I'm not just missing robs enthusiasm but also his prepardness. Rick and CG just don't have robs level of insight on the courses and riders. Rob talks so much because he knows he has something good to say!

Yup, current broadcast has basically zero insight into who any of these people are. Really missing Eliot Jackson as well who always had good information directly from the riders and could articulate the small differences in what each rider was doing that makes the sport actually interesting to watch.

Edit: Well... that was well done. I was curious to see how well Emily Batty would gel with Rob and Eliot, but it seems she has enough media experience that she never really looked or sounded uncomfortable. The interviews were also enjoyable.

Looks like Red Bull has retained some type of involvement in the UCI WC after all. I couldn't help but noticing the Red Bull animated logo popping out everywhere during the Val di Sole coverage, I thought it was weird and ironic at the same time...
 
US national champs took place yesterday. Bot sure if the details but I've read it was a mess on behalf of USA Cycling. Anyway Luca shaw won. I'm not sure what happened with Dakotah but he gained time from qualies to finals whereas everyone else dropped the predictable 3-4 seconds. My guess is he crashed or got held up in some way. Radio silence on the social front.
