Hello everyone,
My name is Chris and I’m a reborn mtn biker from more than ten years ago. Rode quit a bit in CR, LM & Ringwood as well as Watchung and South Mountain when they were still open to bicycles. I gave the sport up in 2000 during my separation/eventual divorce and had intentions of coming back, but then I lost my father and dealt with years of depression.
Recently my 15 year old son and I were cleaning my parent’s basement and came across my DBR Axis TT Pro sitting in the corner. He asked why I hadn’t ridden anymore and expressed interest in us starting to ride together. I was excited to say the least. So, the fatbike is now his and I picked up a Specialized RH 29er to get my “feet wet” again. As I get back into riding shape, I will be upgrading the components on the new fatbike as it needs to lose a few pounds, as do I. Then I’ll eventually move all of the upgrades to a newer 29er frame in the next year or so. With this hobby being like a drug, I’m trying to convince my fiancé to purchase a fatbike as well. It will make my future purchases/upgrades less painful.
Most memorable riding moment was at CR back in '98 or '99, night riding in the dreadful humid summer with my buddy Steve H. I neglected to wear my riding glasses that evening due to fogging. What a mistake, halfway through the ride I got clipped in the eye by a small branch and lost my left contact lens. To top it off, my Moon Unit Lighting system battery wasn’t fully charged and was draining wicked fast so there was no way in hell I was riding back to the car. That was a long walk but one to remember and laugh about.
I would like to thank the site owners for creating/compiling the information that is available here. It’s greatly appreciated and has assisted me many times.
