6 Mile Run Conditions

1/2" of snow at 10:00 - it was nice and tacky snow, except for the roots. and don't accelerate on the bridges!
couple of hidden ice patches, but i was in cruise mode on the SS with skinny tires, so if i could ride it, B+ and Phat would be a hoot.
not problem staying hooked up with the "climbs" (er little uphill sections).

It's cold, but cold means everything is frozen solid so conditions are primo, although I agree the roots and hidden ice patches will keep you on your toes.

Get some! 😎:gangster:

Most of the snow has been worn off the trail. Some sections still have a thin hardpack snow layer. Obviously everything is still frozen solid. As was mentioned, the roots are very slick.

Was good today, no mud, bugs , no dudes without helmets blasting music.

Gonna be shitty when it melts.

The trails were surprisingly good. As mentioned the trails are frozen so the trails are very rideable. The only part where I slipped out was a section between the tire and sink on the White trail where the trails goes downhill and then bends to the left with some roots. There was a sheet of ice under some snow that threw my rear wheel out.

Think we started out with like 20+ people at 2°. These were the finishers at 7°. The glory days lol
We started on the 27 side an that pic was taken halfway through at the canal side. It's funny how memorable that ride is for me, it was one of the 1st times I went mtbing when it was really cold and my first ride there, it seemed so epic. 6 Mile epic...lol🙂

My buddy and I both slid a bit there too. We also slid on some of the bridges, and thus avoided some of the other wooden features that are optional.

Conditions are going to be fantastic for snow riding tomorrow, but cooooold. I'd avoid today. Super-windy, even after the snow. I've been hit by falling branches (none too large, thankfully) and it's no fun. This weekend is going to be brutally cold so things should remain frozen for a while, even when it warms up a bit Monday.

FYI, it hasn't been above freezing since before Christmas. Hooray for frozen trails!

I'll likely head out on the XC skis today. The wind is whipping and this should make for some serious scouringand drifting. Expect sport with zero snow and others that are neck deep.

I'd rather take my chances with some falling branches than ride when its single digits.

Hey Glenn , any idea on how the trails are looking ?? Packed down at enough for skinnies ??

I’d say 3” tires or wider. Leave it for the fatties for a few more days.

That said, there is bound to be countless tracks out there
