6 Mile Run Conditions

From one of the Facebook groups. Gonna have to dig out that bridge at Blackwells again. Let’s not go carrying our torches and pitchforks to people that are out there. Educate, don’t berate.

like that? Just came up with it. 😉

Came here to post this but seems like it’s published elsewhere. I won’t name the rider publicly here but I did send a message to him probably not good to ride those trails at all right now.

Need to do some serious recon. If anyone gets out, can you GPS mark the areas that need work, trees down, where bridges are out, etc. Take photos.

My go to trick to knowing what needs help is using the lap counter on my Garmin. Then lap numbers are marked on the map in Garmin Connect.

Busy week and I wont be able to get there till Sunday at the earliest.

Just went around this morning on foot from Jacques lane- white, end of red, blue to the boardwalk, and across Middlebush to concrete bridge…

Pleasantly surprised that the trail surface is in good shape! Biggest issue seems to be the bridges that have were washed out. Overall the trail is firm but I’m holding back on a rave review with rain in the forecast the next couple days.

The worst I saw on my route was along blue by the steel bridge.. but, knowing what it’s been like in the past, it is not bad- and not reflective of the rest of what I saw:

Drainage pipe at the end of red trail toward canal between the hills washed away:

Overall a pleasant surprise to find the trail surface in decent shape. No down trees along my route. Bridges being out is probably the biggest issue.

Which bridge was this struggling to place it from pictures above. Just curious...
This is the one at Blackwell Mills road. Coming from the canal lot, you go down a short, steeper hill that has some good sized bermed turns that empty out onto the bridge.

but it could be any bridge on the canal side other than a few that survived. The two on the red trail are out, as well as the one on white.

Just for “fun” I figured I would post this. My hand is against the tree at the high water line. This is not too many feet from the exit of forbidden red onto Canal Road. For height reference, I’m 6’4”. I would have been pretty much submerged riding here. There are signs of erosion but that’s to be expected when Mother Nature dished it out like she did.

btw - the trails were in very good shape this morning aside from the bridges and some obvious signs of erosion. Please be careful with speed where the bridges once were. It’s real easy to forget where you are and needing to stop quick before tumbling down quite a few feet. The weather changes are coming, so these will be the last few days where we can get some moisture and things actually dry out fast.

Wow alot further than last time. Gotta put anchors on it

Thank you for this. I thought the trails needed to be fixed before we can ride again and we just need to walk the bikes across where the bridges were? Does it require you to walk through water?

You can hop over every water crossing, or find a way. I snagged a few boards that were left behind and made a balance beam to get across.

Honestly, it’s like the Six Mile I knew years ago - you just had to get your feet wet when you rode here
