I'm a 47 year old just getting into mountain biking. I live close to Ringwood and would like to bike there as often as possible. Are there group rides for beginners/intermediates that help us newbies get acclimated to the trails? If there are group rides I'd love to tag along as I don't have many friends who are into mtn biking at this stage.

Any advice would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Gary

Thank you elzoller. Beyond the Wednesday beginner ride, are there any other group rides for more challenging runs?

Thanks again.

I thought you said beginner, therefore the answer. I havent been to this beginner ride yet, but the leaders are no beginners and I am sure they can show you something more advanced.

Ringwood is not really a beginner's place to begin with (unless you stick to the fireroads)

Try it, if you need more advanced rides, keep an eye here as there are usually rides coming up all the time.

RW lot c, next Wednesday 7/7 @5:30.

Sounds like a perfect ride for you.

Stay with us for about 3/4 of the ride at which point I'll show you the start of the switchback climb and the last quarter of the race loop. You can meet us where it terminates by Shepherd's Lake.

Thanks for the info. ANother question:

Should I buy an inexpensive new bike to learn on and beat the crap out of, or should I buy something used and beat the crap out of that? For a 6' 200 lb dude who is in pretty decent shape, what size should I be looking for?
