almost rode Sourland

My wife is training for her first 10k and Saturday was cross-training day. So I said let's go ride something other than what we can reach on bike. First was a 30 min affair cleaning up and fixing the rusted-with-seized-links-chain-of-shame on my MTB (been riding a 29'er with road tires for a year). Then find all the missing stuff, move a bike computer to the MTB (so I can track her time, etc( then a 30 min drive to Sourland. Got there just in time to put in a 1.5hr ride before dark. EXCEPT, forgot the keys to the bike lock cable at home! Drove back with my tail betwen my legs and rode the local trails around Clinton on Sunday.

that really stinks. my brother-in-law forgot his shoes after we drove 1/2 hour to our destination. he couldn't ride anything since he has eggbeaters. have you been there before? i rode there once on a ht and clipless pedals... not fun. tried it on a full suspension with platforms... loved it.

have you been there before?
Embarrassingly, I have not ridden any single-track in Nj yet (in two years). Been riding road/greenway/gravel. And if we had not timed the ride so close to sundown to avoid the heat we may have been able to go back home for the keys.

Not to discourage your enthusiasm, but Sourlands probably isn't the best choice if your just looking to get back into trail riding after a hiatus. Personally, I love the place, but it's very rocky and technical and not very beginner friendly.

In central NJ, I would recommend you try 6 Mile Run to get back into singletrack riding.

You were so close to finding out how much you really suck as you squeal your brakes all the way down. Have every little boulder to tell you to eat ish and die. Jack up the left and right pelvic bones and tell yourself the 3rd time probably won't be charming on this one today... Oooh wait, that was my ride today.

Have fum riding! ilnadi back!

It looked like it would be flat if you tend left from the parking lot and not go up-n-over. We'll try 6mi. THanks for the feedback.

You would be fine if you stayed on the lower left parts of the mountain. It prob be like a 40 loop. I think you should start here so you dont get soft.
