Another Cyclist Murdered

There's no point in debating gun rights with those who support gun rights. Doesn't matter what you say, it'll never change their minds. I don't care about anyone having guns, you do you. I don't want them in my house, I don't want my kids to visit friends whose parents have guns in their houses. I've never personally met anyone that has saved themselves or family members with a gun. As a psych nurse, I've met plenty that have ruined their lives with one.

Here one problem we deal with today - state there is no reasoning/discussing an issue you don’t agree with. Then go to your corner.

Post up/cite several books/articles/publications that support your cause and act like the other side can’t do the same exact thing.

Then I love the “we need to come together to fight/end this” as long as come together means agreeing with my side.

While not directed at you solely, this is an issue. The middle seems to be dwindling, or at least the media wants us to think that.

Do you get to see the bad side of things - yes. Do you get to see the cases where an armed citizen prevails - No. you just stated it.

I am a victim of gun violence - having been in that situation with a gun on me by a criminal who got ten years I would like the option to defend myself. That is my right. I hope none of you have to go through what I did.

Maybe when the government can get illegal guns off the street and end violent crime they will have a better ground to stand on. Chicago has come off the strictest gun laws and is a liberal/anti-gun stronghold and the place is a war zone. There is not a gun problem there, it is a culture problem. There are tons of guns where I live, gun clubs every square mile - we don’t fill our hospitals with gun wound victims on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis.

Someone pulls a knife on you and sees you going for your gun....you think they're running away just to get shot in the back? Or you think they're going to come at you faster and harder to try and kill you before you can get a shot off? Just cause you have a gun doesn't mean you're in a better position. I don't care what hollywood says.

lol, you're hysterical. You work for The View? Nobody is shooting anyone in the back.
First of all, I never made the case that you'll get a shot off before being cut.
Look up the 21' rule. Then lets talk about off-lining and creating space.
And yes, you are in a better position w/ a gun in a knife fight.

One - that’s why you should train/practice.

Two - not everyone can run.

Three - it is illegal to carry a knife over 2” that is not for work purposes - I can defend myself long enough and stay away from vitals to get to my gun with a 2” blade. More blade than that you are helping prove my point why i want to carry my gun.

Four - are we going to start making up situations?

Five - Hollywood is bs - I go to magazine capacity on this. In a high stress situation it is more likely to miss your target. In addition given the caliber pistol it may take more than one round to suppress the threat. In Nj we are limited to ten rounds in a magazine. Like you started, you have seen gun shot victims in the hospital (I would infer they are alive when they get there) - people don’t just drop to the ground once shot, they can still 100% be in the fight.

Number one rule is avoid conflict and get away - but that is not always possible.

haha, this was mostly a joke. These hypotheticals don't mean anything.

I'm in the middle. I don't really care who has guns or who doesn't. I do believe in common sense gun laws. Chicago is flanked by places that allow criminals to walk into gun shops and buy guns legally, stupid argument. Lets not forget, illegal guns were once legal guns. At some point, that criminals gun was once bought legally.

What laws on the books in Chicago allow Criminals to buy guns legally?

Then stolen guns - yes a crime problem that our government cannot stop. Again providing additional legs to stand on for being able to participate in our 2nd Amendment right.

short drive over to the Indiana gun shows.
If guns were never purchased legally, there would be no illegal guns. How does that provide legs to stand on for gun rights. Because of the 2nd amendment rights, you have criminals with guns, lol. It's a problem gun owners created haha.

Simply not true. Some are stolen before anyone buys them.

Have you ever purchased a gun at a gun show? You still have to go through the FBI background check as well as the same forms. I have zero clue how the gun show “loop hole” is still argued.

If you really want an argument, at least say ghost guns. That is an actual shortfall the government has in the regulation department. The case in point is No one will ever be able to take guns completely away just like they cannot take drugs away. Once it’s out there - it’s out there. Vice actually had a really good program on this a few weeks back.

Isn't that exactly what you're doing? lol:shrug:
as a retort to someone else's dumb comments.
I'm gonna stop commenting now and leave it at this; All I was saying, based on my experiences, and actual statistics, you are not any safer owning a gun. That's it. It is what it is. Stop arguing that responsible gun owners are all the same. They aren't. Mistakes happen. Accidents happen. A guns sole purpose is death, and that's what you're going to get with them.

That's pretty funny when you just posted this:

"Gun folks don't lie about their guns. They're worse than vegans. Give them a chance to talk about guns and you better have some time on your hands."
🤣

If I ever reply to you, just consider it sarcasm. Because I honestly don't take anything you say seriously. You are the stereotypical old white guy, lol. All your views, so predictable, more so than anyone here.

At least you didn't call for censorship. You went for the jugular with race and age.
