Anyone for Tennis or Pickleball

Do you play? And where? Let’s all link up!
Met some other beginner dude on a fb group this evening. It was a great time!

Caught the US OPEN fever and playing again after a couple decades

My wife and I play once in a very great while. We're terrible.

All my non-bike/athletic friends are all telling me that pickleball is where it's at now though.

Also, please change the title to "Anyone for Tennis"

Pickleball is hot. I've also been told the er rooms are full of people with pickleball injuries.

It's a fun game, a cross between pong pong and tennis.

I don’t hate on PB(NJ) ha I just realized that but prefer tennis. I played a lot when young and HS. We have portable pickle net too and many paddles. Fun for sure but slower of course.

The other evening it was 8 pickle courts next to us all full. Yikes. How long will this last?

My neighborhood tennis courts ( 4 courts) just got refinished and they put PB lines in ugggh So ugly and cheap. Now everyone and their mommas will be coming. And you could put two PB courts on one tennis court. Actually I’ve seen one tennis court in the area turned into FOUR PB. PB is definitely more popular, recreationally, but doing this takes away from tennis by using more real estate. Please make them seperate. Every other town around us has seperate courts. Woulda been nice to maximize one tennis courts space.

I'm surprised the tennis courts in Chimney Rock Park haven't been converted yet. They do seem to get pretty good use for tennis.

I've been playing PB the last few weeks.
Was playing club level competitive racquetball and blew out my shoulder. Probably 15 years ago now?
The repair left some nerve damage, so i can't hit a proper forehand. (i can also not throw a dart or putt properly anymore)

Sure PB is slower - it isn't a big cardio workout - but it does get the old people moving.
And these sports are a game of precision and strategy over power.

Funny story - i'm 60, and i dove for a ball (and got it)
my partner stopped playing and asked me if i was ok..he was probably 40, maybe just short of there.
holy crap - i'm the old guy now!

If we fill in those monster cracks at the ball courts in Cromwell there's some nice center court viewing as well for PB

One on one or Australian doubles is decent cardio for PB. Doubles not so much. Also have a bad shoulder which ended my tennis and baseball careers. Tried PB last year and now have a chronic tennis elbow. Considering a switch to lefty. Anyone tried this with success with a racket sport?

I always like tennis, but could never play it since it's hard to find people who could return a serve.

My parents got into pickleball in FL. We ended up paving a useless section of my yard to put in a court (doubles as basketball).

No cardio??? Y'all gotta come over and play. Our matches get heated!😆

I played lefty RB, and could beat anyone that didn't play regularly.

We could get an opposite hand game going. I'm playing up at the warren club wed and Fri at 6:30am. They sell a 10 session card for $130

You’re retired and waking up to play at 6:30 am? One of us is doing something wrong.

playing like twice a week. I've played more tennis in one month than riding the in past 2-3 years.... 😣 but trying to ride hartshorne tomorrow as I'll be in the area

Anybody watching AO?

changed my grip (eastern to semi western) + new racquet like 3 months ago. Next day tennis elbow. Still recovering and playing through it.
But damn my game was on fire that day lol I changed the racquet and strings to something more forgiving but still gripping it different. But might need to go back to eastern in Spring
