Bad Driving

This seems to be my theme lately
Riding a lot of road on my gravel bike because convenience ongoing theme lately is vehicles coming off side streets to turn left in front of me looking left as they're rolling to the stop with seemingly no intention of stopping see me at the last second as I'm locking them up and pointing at them with a certain pointer finger
Why look left if turning left?

On the way back from NJMP last night I was on 55N behind a guy on a dirtbike-type thing. Sat behind him for 10-15 minutes cruising at 70ish. Could see that he only had his right hand on the grip the whole time, couldn't see his left. Figured he was just resting it on the tank or his hip or something. When I finally passed him I saw that he had a phone mounted to the bars and was texting/scrolling with his left hand the whole time, occasionally glancing up at traffic ahead.

I don't know, that kinda sounds like good driving. Stupid obviously, but impressive he’s still alive, as that’s probably not his first time doing that.

Hah. "Yesterday" = "Sunday" when you post on Monday. Heard the NASA event was huge. 300 cars?
Yea it was a big event. I don't know how many cars in total but 300 sounds about right. The HPDE groups were normal sized, but the race groups were huge. After working/driving two straight days plus the heat I was absolutely smoked when I got home Sunday night.

Not sure if this belongs here or the Frown thread.

7:05AM and someone is pounding on our doorbell. Wife is in the shower, I'm (was) sleeping. Open the door for a guy from a local paving company who is repaving a neighbor's driveway. (Note, town ordinance says no work before 8AM). In an attempt at doing a 3 point turn into the block that is perpendicular to my street and car, he wedged himself about 6"off my Thule rack and couldn't figure out how to go forward or backward without hitting my car.

After moving my car I congratulated him on being the first driver in the 28 years I've lived here that couldn't make a 3 point turn here.

Driving the left lane of 287 yesterday doing 60ish with the flow of traffic. Something happened up ahead and everyone hits the brakes and slows down to 15-20. Except the Mercedes in front of me. She slams the brakes as hard as she can and comes to a complete stop as the traffic in front of her continues on. My foot is buried the floor trying to stop my 7000+ pound truck as I see the Audi behind me approaching way too fast to stop. I go to release my brake pedal to give him more room which is when I realize the Mercedes in front of me stopped even though everyone in front of her is gone. I stopped inches off her bumper as the Audi passed me on the left in the grass. Mercedes eventually moves to middle lane and as I pass her I'm pretty sure she has ZERO CLUE about any of this.

Was on GSP yesterday driving south and a slow mover was in the left lane about to exit into the "Judy Blume" service area just north of exit 98. A bunch of us were backed up behind him in traffic, but there was one Karen behind me that was laying on the horn and swerving into the left shoulder to flash high beams. In the straight away just before the left exit she floors it on the left shoulder cutting right back across the exit and passes us all including the slow mover that was trying to exit left at the same time. Karen passes just in front of the slow dude and swerves back into the left shoulder trying to re-enter traffic. The rest of us went on trying to sort ourselves out as the traffic eased, and there, up ahead on the left shoulder was the Karen, two flat tires from something sharp and hard on the shoulder.

one almost got me a couple days back.
Went across the outer bridge at 30mph behind a couple vehicles following the nervous person.
Highway goes to 3 lanes, the cars in front of me go around to the right - I wait about 30 seconds, see if they will move over.
they don't so I go around them - not even over the speed limit.
Once i'm right next to them, it is time to get out of the left lane -
luckily nobody to the right of me.
