Best Tires for NJ (6 miles, chimney, etc.)

Opening a can of worms here :hmmm: ready for some opinions...
I am currently running racing ralphs and need to buy new tires since I am switching my Bontragers TLR's to tubeless and my current tires are not.
I heard good things about Specialized Purgatory and Knobby Nicks. I am def. looking for something more aggressive than the ralphs. Thanks again!

Jolly,

I run the non-EXO Ignitors on my Bontrager tubeless ready wheels with no issues. Just saying you may be able to run the RRs if you use Stans.

If not, the Ignitors do everything well, are fairly light and roll reasonably well. I ride them everywhere from 6 mile to CR to Sourlands. I even rode them when I took my bike out west to Fruita and Moab and had no issues.

Nic in the front and Ralph in the back is a good setup for cr. A nic in the front is overkill at 6 mile though.

Try bontrager xr3's. They seem to be a great do everything tire

I ran Ralph's tubeless and cut the sidewalks at chimney. Ignitions now

Whatever you get make sure you get the beefy sidewalls. Schwalbe snakeskin, geaux tnt, etc. I'm partial to the xc tires, especially the ralph and geaux aka.

Ignitors here too, EXOs. Some claim that they've had durability issues with them but I've been running them on 2 bikes for a while, and other than normal tread wear they've been great.

I've wanted to check out some of the Bontrager stuff, just need to kill some ignitors first 😀 Not whoring the 29-3/2 anymore?

I like the Continental x-kings, with ProTection. The have UST versions. Good all around tire; hasn't failed me yet.

I got a rear x-king start of the season...one trip to raystown and about 40 other miles and I have knobs ripping completely off...not a fan of this tire's durability in the tread, other than that its ok I guess. but I won't buy this one again.

I've been running Conti Race King's on my Jet 9 (and now EMD) for about 3 years at 6MR with no complaints. Granted, I like to slide a bit now and then. Just yesterday I picked up a X-King 2.4 (Conti's seem to run small) to run on the front. Will see how that goes, but I wanted something a bit beefier for a ride I'm doing in the Watershed at Fredrick, MD tomorrow.

I've been running Conti's for ages and I really like their compounds - grip well and wear like iron. After years of running Euro brands (Conti, Michie, Verd., etc), my recent attempts with other brands (Kenda, Maxxis, etc) haven't gone well.

kenda nevegals dtc x2.35 luv it cause i'm a big boy they hold when im leaning all 380lbs on them in the turn !! and don't spin out when climbing and I"get out the saddle"

Nice GTI.

Thanks, it is actually a VW Diesel TDI 😀 I owned a couple of Mark II GTI's and switched it up for better fuel economy

It sounds like the Bontragers and Ignitors are highly liked. Like I said I have the racing ralphs on my bike now and I don't "love" them. Thanks for the input. Any good mtn bike shops not to far from Hoboken to check some of these out in person?

Oh, sorry to hear that.

I run Ralph up front and x king rear works great for 6 mile but could use something a little more aggressive for cr
